14 What is a grapnel anchor? The grapnel anchor is a traditional design which is engineered so that at least one of its flukes will always be aimed at the sea bed whichever way it lands. Thanks to its lightweight status, the grapnel is a non-burying anchor with only one of the four flukes digging in and the remaining three staying above the ground.
