13 NHF The basic features of NHF LOAN include: Purpose of Loan Type of Property Eligible Limitation on Co-borrowers Maximum Loan Amount Loan Term Repayment Structure Interest Rate Minimum Contribution for eligibility Pre-payment of Loan Equity Contribution To part-finance the purchase of an existing home, construct a new one or renovation A single family home or an apartment in a multi-unit building Two spouses are not allowed to co-borrow under NHF scheme. Where title to a property is in the name of the spouses, either of them gives consent to the other to use the title for the purpose of obtaining the loan. Maximum loan amount that may be borrowed is N15m Maximum Tenor shall be 30 years subject to a maximum age of 60 years. Monthly 6% p.a throughout the tenor of the loan The minimum period of contribution shall be (a) 6 months for employed staff of a contributing employer/company. (b) 36 months for self-employed The borrower may repay the full principal outstanding on the loan at any time without penalty. The borrower must provide a minimum equity of (a) 10% for loan amount not exceeding N5million (b) % for loan amount above N5million but not more than N10million and (c) 30% for loan amount above N10million up to N15million. Maximum Loan to Income ratio Security The borrower monthly mortgage loan repayment shall not exceed 33% of expected monthly income. Duly Registered Title SMBL shall also assist Oando staff migrate to Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria/National Housing Fund loan and Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Company from Safetrust s mortgage.
