Leahy, City Manager~ Alexandra Sheeks, Assistant to the City Manager ~ Status Update- Snohomish County Growth Study Area Date: June 3, 2014 ISSUE: Shall the City Council receive a report about the Snohomish County growth study areas? RECOMMENDATION: To receive the report and provide comments or direction as necessary. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: On April 5, 2011, the City Council approved Resolution 399 to formally designate Potential Annexation Areas (PAA) in King and Snohomish Counties. On February 11, 2014, the Council authorized staff to proceed with a survey of property owners in the potential annexation areas of Snohomish County to determine their interest in being annexed into Woodinville. Of the 156 surveys that were sent in March 2014, the City received 56 responses (36%). Publicly-owned properties were excluded from the survey. From the responses received, 36% were in favor of annexation, 59% were not in favor of annexation, and 5% had no opinion or needed further information. The results of the survey are attached for discussion. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Direct staff to continue working on these areas 2. Direct staff to discontinue working on these areas RECOMMENDED MOTION: I MOVE THAT THE CITY COUNCIL DIRECT STAFF TO [CONTINUE OR DISCONTINUE] WORK ON THESE POTENTIAL ANNEXATION AREAS IN SNOHOMISH COUNTY.
