If you re looking for data in your neighborhood beat area, the Census Bureau s FactFinder is a great place to find lots of data not merely population, but also health, housing, income level, employment, and more. First, however, you ll need to identify the census tract(s) that define your public housing project. NYCHA Portal Search for your housing project, then click on General Development Information to find the street address. NYC.gov map In Advanced Search, enter the address (street number and name, and borough) Choose to display locations/services on map: o Municipal boundaries: census tract (mouseover to see number(s)) FactFinder (Census Bureau) On the front page, select: Advanced Search >> Show Me All Click on Geographies in the menu on the left In the List tab, use the drop- down box to find Census Tract Select New York for state Select the appropriate county for your borough: New York County (Manhattan), Bronx County (Bronx), Queens County (Queens), Kings County (Brooklyn), or Richmond County (Staten Island) Now select the census tract(s) that correspond with your public housing project beat o Hold down the control (or command) key to select multiple census tracts at once Click Add to your selection Close the Geographies pop- up window, and you ll see the data available for your beat To find specific data, click on Topics at the left, and explore the menu

Select Area Profile to begin your data retrieval.
