4 HOW TO SUBMIT PRINT ADS To submit artwork: file to Arlene at (maximum file size accepted by is 10MB). Refer to advertising agreement for complete advertising terms and conditions. PREFERRED FORMAT Adobe PDF is the preferred file format. Export/Save at Press Quality. Check the boxes to include all printer s marks. (See below for screenshot for exporting an InDesign file to PDF) Note: For full page ads or two-page spreads, you have the option of full bleed. If you do not include bleeds, your ad will have a 1/4 (.25 ) white border when printed. What is a bleed? Bleed is a printing term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet before trimming. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off. Bleeds give the printer a small amount of space to account for movement of the paper and inconsistencies. Artwork and background colors can extend into the bleed area. The bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document. See previous page for ad sizes and specs. TIPS: Keep all text/logos at least 3/16 (.1875 ) away from the edge of the page or they may be cut off. Placed images should be tif or eps format, 300 dpi or higher. Color should be converted to CMYK (not RGB and no spot colors). All layers of placed images should be flattened before saving in order to retain transparency effects. Convert all type to outlines. Avoid hairline rules. 4
5 2015 MAGAZINE EDITORIAL CALENDAR Illinois REALTOR is filled with timely, topical information for the state s real estate professionals. Each edition typically has a theme to anchor coverage. Additionally, each edition will have: One to two additional stories about some aspect of the real estate business. Information on government affairs efforts and lobbying, both at the state and local levels. New this year, the magazine will add a section on professional standards, an emphasis area selected by the association s leadership. A column or feature on major legal issues confronting real estate professionals. Updates about and pictures of REALTORS throughout the state. January 2015 Issue Ad Closing: Nov. 5 Materials Due: Nov. 19 Mail Date: Dec. 15 REALTORS READ THIS MAGAZINE! Illinois REALTOR ranks first among readers as the most useful publication for their business. Most REALTORS (93.4%) keep the magazine for 1-6+ months. 86% say they are most likely to share the magazine with others. I find it to be one of the best tools for keeping up to date. A key dynamic that will shape the housing market in the years ahead will be retirees making home-buying and home-selling decisions. How to help clients navigate the complicated world of financing. There s a lot riding on credit scores right now, especially since they are much tighter than they used to be. For REALTORS, it means being sensitive to how to approach this issue with buyers, while at the same time being able to guide them through the process.
