1 Jack Cochran received Master of Architecture and Master of Urban and Environmental Planning degrees from the University of Virginia School of Architecture in December The recipient of the Sullivan Award and the Partridge Endowed Award in Architecture, his work has focused on sustainable urban metabolisms, culminating in a thesis that reimagined food production and waste management at the scale of a city block. He is co-founder of Urbain DRC, a design/research collaborative focused on the future of the city and the environment. Urbain was awarded First Prize in the inaugural Minneapolis Creative City Challenge for MIMMI, an installation that detects and displays the collective mood of the city and merges the physical and virtual layers of an urban space. Urbain is also at work on a new prototype for mixed-use buildings, to be constructed in midtown Minneapolis beginning Jack is also co-founder and owner of the Charlottesville Community-Supported Fishery, a business that connects residents with local, responsibly-harvested fish and supports smallscale farms in southern Virginia. He has also served as lead editor for the School of Architecture s student journal, Lunch, for which he led production of two main volumes and initiated an additional bimonthly publication. He currently works for INVIVIA, a design and technology research lab based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Jack has worked for the Galfione-Cox Design Studio in Charlottesville, as well as Biko Associates in Minneapolis, where he conducted research and wrote chapters for the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Central Corridor Light Rail Line. He was born in Minneapolis and received a B.S. in Architecture and a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Projects include submissions for the Miami Science Museum Living Core Media Wall and the China International Architectural Biennial exhibition Fourth Urban Landscape Forum and International Workshop Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain Invited Designer For the Green Infrastructure in the City International Workshop, collaborated with American, Italian, and Spanish students on the design of an inner-green belt for Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, the European Green Capital of Galifione-Cox Design Studio Charlottesville 2012 Designer Collaborated with Maurice Cox on a planned unit development in Charlottesville and on the second stage of community planning for Bayview Rural Community in Bayview, Virginia. Activities included digital modelmaking, renderings, preparing materials for planning commission submissions, and assisting in meetings with local communities. Researched and developed strategies for new bike paths/lanes in Minneapolis, and presented materials and options to local communities. ACTIVITIES Highland District Council Community Development Committee Saint Paul Alternate Review and vote on development proposals for the Highland area of Saint Paul and make recommendations to the City Council and Planning Commission Lunch: Student Journal at the University of Virginia School of Architecture University of Virginia 2012 Lead Editor Lead development and editing of Vols. 6, 7, and 8 of ongoing interdisciplinary student journal. Organized group of fifteen copy-editors, developed content and design for journals, selected submissions, and wrote grants and fundraised for nearly $20,000 to support journal. Vol. 6 became first journal in series to achieve financial stability, be printed in full-color, and completely sell out of copies. Edited work includes conversations with Rafael Moneo, Kate Orff, Geoff Manaugh, and others. Also initiated a new bimonthly publication,s01, the recipient of a Student Design Merit Award.
