Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Headquarters The firm won the limited design competition for the ministry building with a solution that draws on a generalized Islamic style. The entrance is intentionally heavyweight and makes reference to religious architecture using wall mounted plaques carrying religious texts. The mosque is to the front of the building. 9 Architecture in the Islamic Environment -7 Shell Development Oman Office Building Mina Al Fahal Having worked with Shell Markets in Oman over many years Huckle and Partners were commissioned to design new offices for Shell Development Oman. The design follows stringent environmental criteria. The building was completed in 2009 Ministry of Legal Affairs Headquarters Airport Heights A move to new Headquarters at Airport Heights from long established offices at Al Khuwair prompted an architectural design competition in which Huckle and Partners were successful. The building was completed in Ministry of Manpower Headquarters Airport Heights In order to centralise a large number of satellite offices in Ruwi area a design competition was held to combine all departments totaling about 1300 staff into a single new ministry building at Airport Heights. Huckle and Partners were awarded first prize and the design commission. Construction is scheduled start in 2010 with occupation expected during ARCHITECTURE IN ISLAMIC ENVIRONMENT-7.doc
