2 The Gate Towards DIFC Parking The Gate is a global center for leading financial businesses designed to embody the DIFC's vales of integrity, transparency and simplicity The building is an iconic element of the master plan, which called for a promenade ending in a triumphal arch, modeled after Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe Sitting on an axis with the Emirates Towers and the World Trade Centre, the building frames these two landmarks 2004 Gensler 2

3 0-14 Al Abraj St O-14 stands at the heart of business bay The tower's concrete shell not only is the structure of the building but also creates a lace-like façade open to light, air, and views 21 stories of custom-designed floors are carried without the barriers of conventional columns and walls At ground level, exclusive shops link this site to Business Bay's waterfront esplanade combining high-end shopping eminent culture and popular entertainment Below grade, four levels of parking provide capacity for over 400 cars 2010 Reiser + Umemoto 3

4 International Financial Centre Sheikh Zayed Rd The design of the precinct buildings, with special consideration to their height and proportions, relate harmoniously to the Gate Building They are exactly half the Gate Building's height and the distance between the Gate and the precinct buildings is exactly the same as the height of the Gate itself The development is interconnected by a full height glass air conditional link and decorative shaded colonnade which creates a human scale for the development There is easy movement from building to building within a controlled environment, with a fluid link to the vibrant cafes, restaurants and terraces around the natural landscaped plaza Externally the predominant material is high tech, full height glass that covers the majority of the building 2010 RMJM s 4

5 The Fairmont Sheik Zayed Road Fairmont is a 34-storey, 153 m skyscraper hotel completed in 2002 in This hotel, which is well-known for being one of the first five star accommodations on Sheikh Zayed road, has been modeled after an Arabic wind tower known as Barajeel The characteristic building along with its iconic exterior lights have become a landmark in the city's skyline 2004 Khatib & Alami 5

6 Iris Bay Al Abraj Street The Iris Bay is a 32-floor tower in the Business Bay in The tower has a total structural height of 170 m The tower is designed in the shape of an ovoid and comprises two identical double curved pixelated shells which are rotated and cantilevered over the podium The rear elevation is a continuous vertical curve punctuated by balconies while the front elevation is made up of seven zones of rotated glass The podium comprises 4 storeys with a double height ground level and houses retail and commercial space totaling 36,000 m2 Floor area/size m² Atkins Global 6
