2 Jacob K Javits Convention Center Originally constructed in the 1980 s, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center completed a major renovation in The renovation has transformed the center from being one of the deadliest buildings for birds in New York City to one of the most bird-friendly. The glass panels, fabricated by Viracon, feature a custom gray, in-line dot pattern which you can see in this close-up image. These 3/32 dots are visible to birds inflight and have cut bird deaths, at the convention center, by 90 percent. Not only is the printed dot pattern bird-friendly, it helps improve the energy performance of the building as well.
