1 ARON CHANG Urban Designer and Educator (949) Euterpe B New Orleans, LA PROFILE Aron Chang is an urban designer and educator based in New Orleans, with a focus on community-based planning and urban design in New Orleans and other coastal communities. He is a co-founder and director at the Blue House, a Central City collective and work space. He teaches at the Tulane School of Architecture and at Bard Early College New Orleans, and draws on six years of professional design and planning experience at Waggonner & Ball Architecture and Environment. He is also a co-founder of Ripple Effect, and a founding member of the Water Collaborative of Greater New Orleans. Co-founder and Director, Blue House (founded in 2014) The Blue House is a collective and shared work space located in Central City, New Orleans. Members have a shared interest in civic issues and collaborative design processes. Project Director for Mixed Media, which explores the role of artists in shaping civic dialogue on critical issues -- such as incarceration and water infrastructure -- through mainstream media. Lead Organizer for Blue House Design Workshops, which connect underserved communities with local designers for pro bono design services Co-Lead for Blue House fikas, a weekly public event through which invited guests guide discussions on civic issues that range from planning and design to housing and criminal justice Adjunct Lecturer and Visiting Scholar, Tulane University Lead instructor for Site Strategies for Architects, a required course all architecture students. Lead instructor for Spring 2018 seminar and options studio, focused on living with water and community-based planning and design practices. Visiting Scholar at the Taylor Center, with a focus on climate change adaptation. Co-Founder, Ripple Effect (Co-Director from 2014 to 2018, Current Board Member) Ripple Effect is a community of teachers, water experts, and design educators working to redefine environmental education through place-based teaching, learning, research, and design. K-5 teachers in New Orleans schools learn to plan standards-aligned and design-based curriculum. In addition, Ripple Effect organizes an annual Bayou Day, which brings together community partners and school communities to celebrate the region s water resources and infrastructure. Project Co-Director for 2015 KIPP Central City Primary Courtyard Redesign Project, which addressed flooding through the creation of rain gardens and a water literacy campus at KCCP Urban Designer, Waggonner & Ball (2011 to 2017) Waggonner & Ball is an architecture and planning firm based in New Orleans, with a focus on civic and institutional buildings as well as water management, urban design, and resilience planning. Aron served as a project manager and lead designer on urban design and planning projects, and led the development and implementation of community engagement strategies.

2 DESIGN and PLANNING EXPERIENCE 2018 Water Leadership Pilot Program, New Orleans, LA Co-lead for a program that brings together community leaders to co-create and implement a program that connects neighborhood leaders from across New Orleans to engage water management and resilience planning Batture Engineers + Land Surveyors, New Orleans, LA Community Engagement Lead for St. Anthony Green Streets. This project addresses flood risk, subsidence, and environmental quality as part of New Orleans s Gentilly Resilience District to 2017 Waggonner & Ball Architecture and Environment, New Orleans, LA Project Manager for Resilient Bridgeport Strategy and Pilot Project, which addresses flood risk and climate change for low-lying coastal areas and public housing in Bridgeport, CT Project Manager for Rebuild by Design: Bridgeport, which resulted in a $10 million planning and pilot project grant for the State of Connecticut as part of a HUD initiative to envision solutions for increased resilience across the Hurricane Sandy-affected region Design Team Lead for the New Orleans National Disaster Resilience Competition proposal, which garnered the City of New Orleans a $141 million award to create the Gentilly Resilience District Project Manager for the St. Bernard Integrated Water Resources Management Plan, which provides the design and engineering basis for a systemic shift towards sustainable water resources management and water infrastructure planning in St. Bernard Parish Project Manager for the Old Arabi Revitalization Plan and Streetscape Improvements, which includes the implementation of St. Claude Avenue median zone improvements Design Team Lead for the Shreveport Cross Bayou Brownfields Area Plan Design Proposal Design Team Lead and Outreach Coordinator for the Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan, which proposes sustainable strategies for managing water resources across three parishes.
