Tim began his work in the Duluth-Superior area as a project designer, project manager, project architect and partner specializing in Indian gaming and tribal community development projects. Tim led the tribal community development market segment that he developed at his previous firms. His primary roles included client relations, business development, involvement in firm management and overall project management. In 2009, Tim s vast architectural experience led him down an entrepreneurial path and he founded the Meyer Group a service-based architectural firm specializing in environmentally-sound progressive design solutions. 10 10 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE LEED LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY & ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN OUR APPROACH TO GREEN INTERIORS & SUSTAINABILITY INCLUDES: A wide range of inexpensive, cost-effective techniques for clients interested in Green Design. Energy efficiency, daylighting, use of recycled materials, use of rapidly renewable materials, and efficient space planning are just a few of the techniques utilized. Use of low VOC paints, adhesives and low off-gassing particle board products are part of our standard specifications. Our mainstream design process is a Green design process, allowing for our clients to pick and choose which Green strategies are to be utilized in their Interior Architecture/Interior Design. Green Design does not need to be more costly, but rather more intelligent design.

11 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE 11 ARROWHEAD REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER OFFICES DULUTH, MINNESOTA ABOUT Tim Meyer assisted the Arrowhead Regional Development Center from Central Park to a new home in Downtown Duluth. The services provided to them included space planning, furnishing layout, and preparation of contract document drawings for interior renovation. 12 12 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE BIRCH GROVE COMMUNITY CENTER TOFTE, MINNESOTA ABOUT The Birch Grove Community Center improvements included a new hockey rink, warming building, park pavilion, tennis court, playground with new play structures and other needed grading, drainage and landscaping improvements. The site complex was master planned by the University of Minnesota. The total project cost was approximately $850,000. Funding for the project came from Cook County and their 1% Sales Tax Fund projects, it was granted to Tofte Township. Other 1% Sales Tax Fund projects included a new Library Addition in Grand Marais, MN, improvements to Superior National Golf Course and the proposed, new Cook County Family YMCA. 13 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE 13 BOIS FORTE PUBLIC WORKS NETT LAKE, MINNESOTA ABOUT It takes many different things to keep a community running smoothly. The new public works facility located in Nett Lake, Minnesota was designed to do just that. Produced on behalf of the Bois Forte Reservation Tribal Council, the ultra-functional structure was finished with painted and pre-finished standing seam metal siding. 14 14 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE CITY OF SANDSTONE IMAGINE SANDSTONE REDEVELOPMENT SANDSTONE, MINNESOTA ABOUT The City of Sandstone hired Meyer Group Architecture to design updated storefronts for several of their downtown buildings. This is a part of the Imagine Sandstone Redevelopment Program that hopes to revitalize the downtown area. SERVICES Architecture

15 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE 15 COOK COUNTY HOVLAND PUBLIC WORKS HOVLAND, MINNESOTA ABOUT Meyer Group Architecture is working on a new Public Works Building in Hovland, Minnesota. The Cook County Hovland Public Works Building consists of a new 5,828 S.F. one story public works building, demolition of the existing public works building onsite and sitework. The one story public works building shall contain four equipment stalls, full bathroom with employee lockers, breakroom with kitchenette, and utility room; and shall consist of a poured concrete foundation, pre-engineered steel main frame, metal siding, and metal roof. The sitework shall consist of grubbing, excavation, site utilities, regrading, and a mound system. SERVICES Architecture, Interior Design, Project Management

16 16 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE COOK COUNTY HOCKEY RINK AND WARMING HOUSE GRAND MARAIS, MINNESOTA ABOUT Meyer Group Architecture has been retained to design a new Hockey Rink and Warming building for the Cook County Amateur Hockey Association. The new facilities will provide for Youth Hockey programming in Grand Marais, Minnesota. 17 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE 17 COOK COUNTY FAMILY YMCA GRAND MARAIS, MINNESOTA ABOUT Meyer Group Architecture, in association with JLG Architects, worked with the Duluth Family YMCA and Cook County to design the Cook County Family YMCA. The facility is a $9.5 million, 38,000 S.F. addition, attached to the Cook County High School. In 2009, the County held a public meeting and from that meeting, a programming assessment was made. The existing Community Center was not aesthetically pleasing nor built to last; the existing facility was also too small to hold small events put on by the community, and not energy efficient. The new addition includes a gymnasium, aquatic center, wellness and fitness center, walking and running track, physical therapy, child care, meeting spaces, field house, full-service kitchen, youth area, locker facilities and a multi-purpose recreation space. 18 18 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE DULUTH PUBLIC LIBRARY PRE-DESIGN AND MASTER PLAN DULUTH, MINNESOTA ABOUT In this much-needed upgrade to Duluth s Main Library, Meyer Group coordinated planned improvements to the existing mechanical system and building envelope for efficiency, as well as, enhancing interior space functionality. Additionally, specification and construction documents with bid alternates were created for bidding. Through this project, a pre-design study was completed for an enclosed winter garden and skyway extension connecting the existing skyway system with The Depot and potential future location for an intermodal transportation hub. 19 MEYER GROUP ARCHITECTURE - GOVERNMENT BROCHURE 19 ELY CITY HALL - ADDITION & RESTORATION ELY, MINNESOTA ABOUT The City of Ely proposed to renovate its historic 1930 Art Deco style City Hall building. Meyer Group was hired to develop Construction Documents for the project. Part of the renovation of the City Hall, located on East Chapman Street, included an addition to the historic structure that provides an accessible entrance to the building, enclosed stair tower, elevator and Police Department garage. The addition complements the Art Deco design, rather than compete with it, by being clad in metal plate wall panels of a contrasting color while still maintaining the scale and proportion of the existing building. The existing interior space of the building was remodeled in order to provide modern amenities, to efficiently house its tenants and to better serve the public. The utmost care was taken to preserve and protect all existing woodwork, decorative plaster and historic fixtures and finishes. Additional considerations included: the selection of maintenance free sustainable building materials, new energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, user comfort and building security. Meyer Group is aiding in the renovation of the timeless community landmark. Built in 1901, it is the oldest operating Carnegie Library in Michigan. In 2011, the Library was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Meyer Group was asked to prepare a historic structure report that would show in great detail the history and the existing conditions of the current building. Government projects are not always all about red tape, uncomfortable seating, and file cabinets. The Mille Lacs Government Center additions and renovations project resulted in a stunning, yet functional structure. The design centered on a complex phased addition and renovation project involving over 100,000 S.F. of building space. New plans addressed current problem areas within the preexisting structure and upgraded security and surveillance for the facility. A multi-disciplinary approach was essential to ensuring that all aspects of design worked in structure and harmony. The project included the Public Health Facilities and handicap elevator access to the Phase 1 Addition and historic Courthouse structure. It also included complete renovation of the Morrison County Annex structure, constructed previously. The facility houses all County Public Health Programs and was designed to compliment the Historic Courthouse, included on the National Register of Historic Places.
