2 PAGE 2 THE MUSEUM NEWS BRIEFS Clancy Rogers Museum Manager Each year the City of Manteca holds a lottery drawing for the number of non-profit organizations, that will be issued a permit to sell safe and sane fireworks within the city limits. Only a small amount of permits are issued each year. This year the Manteca Historical Society was lucky enough to be drawn for one of the permits. We last had fireworks permits in 2015 and The money raised from the fireworks sales goes directly to the operation of the museum. Since we receive no money from the city, state or any federal agency, we rely on donations from the public, our membership dues and from memorial gifts, along with annual fundraising events to keep the museum open and operating. In years when we are fortunate enough to be drawn as one of the non-profit fireworks sales locations, it becomes one of our larger fund-raisers, second only to our annual membership drive. Of course, we do need volunteers to help work the booth, which will be open this summer from June 27th through July 4th. For those of you who can volunteer a few hours of your time for a shift or two during that week, it will be a tremendous help to us. You do not need to be a member of the Historical Society to volunteer. If you d like to help, or have any questions, feel free to call me at (209) or (209) during business hours.
