1 MANTECA HISTORICAL SOCIETY NEWSLETTER FEB VOL. 27, ISSUE 2 THE MUSEUM DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION OF OUR MANTECA AREA HISTORY Happy Valentines Day! CANINE BEHAVIORIST, AND COLUMNIST, DIDI McELROY FEBRUARY 12TH PROGRAM Didi McElroy and Dante, pushing cart The Manteca Historical Society will be hosting local Canine Behaviorist, Dierdra "Didi" McElroy, for an entertaining presentation on canine body language. Learn how to interpret a dog's tail wag, ear twitch, sudden scratch or eye blink. Do dogs see in color? Why do some dogs chase shadows? What is the best reaction to have when encountering an off - leash Pit Bull? As a weekly columnist to the Manteca Bulletin, these are the types of questions Didi answers. She has been working with animals for over 25 years. Didi graduated Texas A&M University in 1991 after completing a veterinary internship at the El Paso Zoo. She has trained service dogs, therapy dogs, detection dogs, police dogs and sport dogs. She currently consults with rescue groups around northern California, police departments, the department of correction and pet owners on behavioral issues. There will be a question and answer period plus Didi's own personal dogs will be at the meeting collecting ear rubs. Please join us for this hour of educational fun! The program begins at 7pm, February 12th, at the museum, 600 W. Yosemite, and is free to all members, and guests! HISTORICAL SOCIETY CHILI-tASTERS PICK 2015 WINNERS!
