Retail The retail industry in Klagenfurt is principally concentrated in two areas, the city centrer and the area arrounding the Alpen Adria Center. The property is easily accessed by public transportation and thus is well suited for retail purposes. There are already numerous retail stores in the surrounding areas. The businesses are mostly large-scale retail stores and grocery stores. In the specialty market segment, there is definitely still potential to be found in niche areas. Healthcare/Caregiving While Klagenfurt s population has been increasing slightly from year to year, the over-65 category has experienced disproportionately higher increases over the last few decades. At the same time, the high occupancy rate at existing assisted living facilities, the comparably low ratio of available spaces to demand, and the increasing number of senior citizens are a clear indication of the existing need for senior services. Thanks to its accessibility, it is eminently suitable for group medical practices or a medical center. Guests stayed for 1.8 days on average, with visitors staying for the longest amounts of time in 2-star hotels (2.5 days) and 3-star hotels (1.9 days).
