The $20+ million dollar project incorporates open space and public access along the waterfront. A total of 58 cruise ships are slated to dock beginning in June through October this year with an estimated 71,000± passengers disembarking from 9 to 12 hours according to the 2013 Berthing Schedule. Cruise Ship Terminal and Event Venue The Bay House project is in Portland s eastern waterfront area, one of the earliest settled parts of the city. India Street (to the south of the subject site) is a transitional corridor from the historic Old Port District and the eastern waterfront. Middle Street, which runs parallel with Newbury Street, has a block of some of the best restaurants in Portland (Hugo s, Pepper Club, Ribollitta s, Duckfat, The East Ender). This part of the peninsula has seen a great deal of new development in the past 5 years and continues to do so now. New hospitality development in the past 5 years includes the Residence Inn Marriott at Fore and Hancock Streets and the recently opened Hampton Inn with Sebago Brewing Company at the corner of Fore and Franklin Streets (the former Jordan s Meats site).
