2 HOME SWEET HOME Welcome to your new home at BaseCamp Copenhagen. You will enjoy your chosen room at BaseCamp Copenhagen, but you will also have access to a shared life with other students and friends to build up our BaseLife. We have transformed the best spaces into beautiful and practical shared amenities for you to enjoy privately, or with fellow BaseCampers or friends. The beauty of the building, with its wonderful contrasts of old and new, is a great foundation for an incredible community. While your objective is a degree, our objective is to make your life a little easier and your university experience a little better. On the following pages, you will find our thoughts and guidance about what BaseCamp Copenhagen has to offer you. 3 AT YOUR SERVICE KEEP CALM YOU HAVE FREE WI-FI Wi-Fi It s easy to keep in touch with your family and friends, because the property provides 100 Mb/s Internet to all residents, which will provide ample bandwidth for streaming and reading purposes. You ll receive all the information and the login at Office. Please reach out directly to ZibraWireless at helpdesk@zibrawireless.dk or whenever you re disconnected. Each room provides an in-room hot spot. Please send an to helpdesk@zibrawireless.dk in order to receive your private password. What is here All rooms come fully furnished with a flexible and modern interior - with bedroom furniture, a desk, a wardrobe, bathroom, chairs and shelves. The majority of the rooms also provide a kitchenette, while a few of you will share a common kitchen on the same floor. All kitchenettes contain a cooker, a refrigerator and space to store your personal stuff. You will also find vacuum cleaners in each floor storage. Irons, iron boards and extra vacuum cleaners can be borrowed at the office remember to bring your picture ID. What you have to bring You need to supply your own bedding and towels, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Of course, we can help you to get these things, if needed. Letters are delivered to identified boxes, so make sure to place your name on the letter box. Parcels are received at the office. You will receive an once we have a parcel for you. The Gym If you want to let off steam or just stay fit, you can go to The Gym in the basement of Building V. The Gym is open 24/7. The Wash You will find all machines required to get your wardrobe sorted and cleaned. The Wash is located in the basement of Building V and S. All information and how-to-instructions are provided at Office. The Wash is open 24/7. The Roof Go meet your fellow BaseCampers at The Roof. The Roof provides plenty of opportunities to hang out, relax and study - all for your convenience. The Roof also offers a small kitchen. The Courtyard On a sunny day you can enjoy the fresh air in the middle of BaseCamp s beautiful courtyard, or right across the street is your backup courtyard, King s Garden, if you feel slightly royal.

4 VALUABLE INFORMATION NICE TO KNOW AND NEED TO KNOW The Canteen Wanna cook with your fellow BaseCampers? Then join us at the Canteen. You will find 5 cookers and most likely new friends. The Canteen is open 24/7. The Cinema Nothing like watching a good film, a TV show, or a sports event on a big screen! Just connect your computer and you are good to go for those binge-watching marathons. The cinema can be found in the basement of building V. The Plug N Play Does your idea of time well spent involve getting together with friends and play Fifa, Grand theft Auto or Super Mario Bros. (yes, it is still a thing!)? Then this is the room for you! Bring your console, connect it to our TV, get comfortable and enjoy this space. Ping pong and foosball table are also available. The Plug N Play is located in the basement of building V. Bike rental At BaseCamp, you can rent Copenhagen s undisputed number one means of transportation: the bike. Reach out to the BC Team, and they will give you all the information you ll need. The contract will be provided along with the rental period. On a general note Show your Student ID everywhere you go. You will enjoy discounts in many places in Copenhagen. Fire safety/emergency In case of fire - remember three important things to stay safe: Shout out get out stay out! Call 112: When you urgently need the fire brigade, ambulance or police. Call 114: Non-urgent police reporting (e.g. theft). Call 1813: Call before going to the emergency room (hospital). Your health in general We strongly recommend registering with a local doctor if you are not a Copenhagener. The office will be happy to provide you with some recommendations.

5 FOOD AND DRINKS CRAVINGS CAN PROBABLY BE MET NEARBY Your new home is located in the heart of Copenhagen, and you are always close to everything. The city is both extensive and intensive - full of life and opportunities. Each neighborhood has its own personality, and its own distinctive set of restaurants, bistros, bars, cafes and pubs. Whatever you re into, there s always something for everyone - from cool to classic, from international to typical Danish, from festive to cozy, etc. Stay tuned on what s happening in Copenhagen on: TRANSPORTATION PLACES TO GO PEOPLE TO MEET Public transportation All public transportation in Copenhagen requires a ticket. The easiest way is with a Travel Card (Rejsekort). Remember to check in and out on the blue points to avoid a fine, as this will cost you roughly 100 euros. The Rejsekort can be purchased online or at the nearest station (Nørreport). Bike The preferred method of transportation in Copenhagen is a bike. Luckily, you can rent your own BaseCamp bike for DKK 200 per month. Reach out to our BC Team, and they will give you all the information you require. Download the I Bike CPH on the Appstore or Googleplay. The app will guide you by GPS, and it knows all the short cuts, the super bike lanes and the green paths so you can commute from A to B as quickly and safely as possible. Metro with your bike If you need to bring your bike on the Metro, it requires a bike ticket. During rush hours from a.m. and p.m., you can t bring your bike on the Metro. During rush hours from 7am-9am and 3.30pm-5.30pm, you can t bring your bike on the Metro.

6 THE HOUSE RULES #1 Satellite dish and antennas The property provides 100 Mb/s Internet, which should provide ample bandwidth for streaming purposes. This is provided by BaseCamp, but usage is not BaseCamp s responsibility. It is your responsibility to use the Internet appropriately. You can t set up any kind of antenna, satellite dish, walkie-talkie, antennas, etc. #2 Bathroom and kitchen In order to avoid clogging drainpipes, please be careful about what items you flush down the toilet. Sanitary towels, cotton, newspapers, etc. are not allowed to be flushed. Do not pour oil or fats down the sink. If you think that there is a leak anywhere, report it immediately to our BC Team. Repairs that are necessary due to damage or abuse by a tenant will be paid for by the tenant. #3 Trash In order to avoid the smell from food waste, your trash should always be wrapped, and waste bags sealed or tied. Take your trash (particularly your food waste) out each day when you re heading into town. It is easy to dump it in the trash containers in the courtyard. Please note that your trash must be sorted and put into the correct trash receptacles in the courtyard. Important: The sorting will be for paper, food waste, cardboard, glass and plastic, and metal. No trash shall be discarded in the common areas, stairs, hallways, etc.

7 THE HOUSE RULES #4 Rooms You are not allowed to drill holes or knock nails into the walls, or the like. All internal maintenance is your responsibility. If any maintenance issues arise, inform our BC Team without delay for further action. #5 Domestic appliances In order to derive the maximum benefit from the installed domestic appliances, we strongly encourage you to read the instructions, which are placed in your room. #6 Installations All internal maintenance is your responsibility. If any maintenance issues arise, immediately inform our BC Team for further action. The tenant must report any flaws with the installations in his/her apartment, i.e. draining, heating and supply of light and water, as soon as possible to the BaseManagers. You are not permitted to carry out any repairs yourself. #7 Room numbers Don t put up any signs on your doors. #8 Keys If a tenant s keys are lost, please contact the BaseManagers or BaseBuddy on duty. There may be a cost for replacing lost keys. The duty number to call is: #9 Storage A personal locker cage for every apartment is situated in either the basement or loft of the property. You must buy your own lock, as you are obliged to always keep the locker cage locked up. Locker rooms that are not locked up will be emptied without notice by the BC Team, and the items will be disposed of without any responsibility assumed by BaseCamp CPH. This is also the case for items placed outside of the locker room. #10 Common areas Looking after the common areas is in your best interest and the interest of everyone else. Put the furniture back and clean up after yourself so that others can enjoy the areas as well. The tenant is responsible for his or her own/or guests use of the common areas, including the common rooms and the courtyard. After use, ensure that the common areas are cleaned up. Failing to ensure this will result in a charge to the tenant for the cost of clearing up. In general, the common areas are not to be used weekdays/ weekends from 10pm or midnight to 7am. As there are many rooms facing the courtyard, the general rule is that the courtyard is not to be used between 11pm to 7 am. If you bring chairs, tables or other items to the common areas, including the courtyard, please take them with you when leaving. Don t leave your own items in the common rooms or the courtyard, when you are not using them.

8 THE HOUSE RULES #11 Pets Don t keep pets on the property. #12 Smoking/Alcohol/Drugs Smoking Don t smoke in your rooms or inside any part of the buildings. You may smoke in the courtyard. Alcohol You can enjoy alcohol, but we recommend that you watch your consumption. University life is about discovering new social opportunities, where some may involve alcohol, while others won t. We encourage BaseCampers to behave responsibly when drinking. It s easy to write and much harder to do, but let s lay it out there - the reality is that getting so smashed that you don t know your own name makes you a danger to yourself and others. Anti-social behaviour (whether alcohol-related or not) puts you at risk of exclusion. Drugs Drug use is prohibited anywhere on the premises. Using illegal drugs on our property places you at risk of exclusion. #13 Customs and order Under the Danish Lease Act, we are entitled to terminate your contract for negligence. Negligence is a broad term. If you fail to abide with any of the above matters, we will view this behaviour as negligence on your part, and you may be subject to sanction or exclusion as a result. In order to enjoy the premises fully, a certain standard of behaviour needs to be maintained by all. With that in mind, you are obliged to behave properly and politely on the property and to act with due respect and courteousness towards other tenants and staff at all times. Failure to observe these norms of behaviour, and any form of anti-social behavior, may lead to exclusion. This includes failure to observe the common area time limits and causing nuisance to other tenants. We may also exclude you for vandalism or negligent treatment of your room or any part of the building s premises. We will not tolerate any form of abusive or threatening behaviour. Tenants are requested to maintain quiet on the property midnight to 7am. This is particularly important during exam periods in May/ June and December/January. Any noisy, tumultuous or boisterous behaviour, such as loud music in the common areas, etc., or after midnight, in general, is prohibited. A single event may not necessarily raise itself to a sufficient level of seriousness to warrant exclusion; however, if there are a series of minor events or a pattern of anti-social behaviour, this may also lead to exclusion.
