HTORY ince 95 outhwest Marble and Granite Works has been offering the finest stone products to the Central Texas Area. The tasswender name is synonymous for granite and marble in the Austin Area, and the company continues to be family owned and operated. tasswender Marble & Granite Works stood tall and proud on ast 4th treet. The big shed, built in 906, was a beautiful sight, letting in dappled sunlight and cool breezes to the 30 plus employees of Anton tasswender. They mostly saw to the grinding and sawing of the huge 0 ton boulders of granite and marble into headstones and large commercial slabs on the ancient machines run by pulleys, exposed gears and manually started electric motors. When Anton died in 954, he left the business to his son, Anton H. tasswender, better known to friends and family as Tony. He continued to run the business along with his wife and children until his death in 977, gaining the reputation of running a rock-solid, reputable Austin landmark. Bob tasswender, his son, took over the company until 989 when the rest of the family decided to concentrate on the monumental side of the business operating under tasswender Memorials, with Bob opting to do what he loved best, which was working and fabricating dimensional stone under his new name, tasswender s outhwest Marble & Granite Works, nc. The tradition of fine quality and craftsmanship continues today with each piece of stone cut and polished. The machinery might have been updated, some new faces added, and the location might have changed, but tasswender, a third generation stone mason, hopes to pass down his legacy to the next generation of like minded fabricators. Our fabricators and installers have over 00 years of combined experience in natural stone. Our office and sales staff have over 60 years of combined professional experience.
