1 I N T E R N AT I O N A L ARCHIT E C T U R E AWARD General located outside the eight State and Territory jurisdictions of the Commonwealth of Australia. This award acknowledges the work of Institute members resident outside Australia and local members undertaking commissions overseas. Entries in this category will first be considered for Awards and Commendations by the International Jury in the subcategories listed below: Small Project Commercial Interior Residential Public All projects awarded an Award by the International Jury will progress to be considered for National Commendations, Awards and The Jørn Utzon Award for International by the National Jury. Entries in this category will not be visited. In lieu of a site visit, jury evaluation may be undertaken using (i) a short video walk-through, (ii) a teleconference interview with short-listed entrants, and (iii) an independent visit-report of the local Architectural Institute AIA International Award Updated March 2014

2 To Enter Entrants in the International Category must enter their project in the appropriate subcategory listed below. If you are unsure of the subcategory in which to enter your project, the National Membership Engagement Officer, Peter Beratis at International Area Level - Subcategory Small Project Subcategory definition (from Awards Policy) Projects in this category will be those considered to be small in terms of area or budget as determined by the Jury. Projects are recognised that have been constrained by space or cost restrictions, but have achieved a level of invention, creativity and craftsmanship beyond these constraints. This category can accommodate projects which might be over-looked against larger scale projects in other categories. Projects of all functional types may be considered. International Area Awards and Commendations Multiple Awards and Commendations can be given There is no Named Award at International Area Level Only Awards progress to National Awards Award: International Award for Small Project Commendation for Small Project National Level Only one Named Award given Multiple Awards and Commendations can be given All projects awarded Awards at the International Area level progress to the National Awards where they are considered equally for the following: Named Award The Jørn Utzon Award for International Awards Award for International Commendations Commendation for International Commercial built primarily for commercial purposes, generally falling within BCA Classes 3b, 5, 6, 7 and 8. 3 Interior Residential Public interior spaces and environments within a new building or the refurbishment of an existing building. Residential within the International category encompasses Category 2: Residential Houses New, Category 3: Residential Houses Alterations and Additions and Category 4: Residential Multiple Housing. See the Awards Policy for reference. predominantly of a public or institutional nature, generally falling within BCA Class 9. Award International Award for Interior Commendations: International Commendation for Interior Award: International Award for Residential Commendation: International Commendation for Residential Award: International Award for Public Commendation for Public Judging All projects will be judged by the International Jury and those that are awarded Awards will progress to the National Awards to be considered for the National Awards, Commendations and The Jørn Utzon Award for International by the National Jury. International Jury The International Award Jury will consist of three to five jurors, who will be selected annually by the President, and endorsed by the International Area Committee (IAC) AIA International Award Updated March 2014

It is recommended that each entrant supply a short walk through video on CD/DVD or USB of no longer than 5 minutes duration (video must be compatible with Windows XP). If you are unable to supply a video, you may like to supply additional photos, drawings etc. Additional Project Materials such as the fly through video must be sent to the National Office at the postal address below, with attention to the National Awards Officer. Alternatively, you can send the additional material via a link (eg via sendspace, hightale etc) for download to peter.beratis@architecture.com.au.
