He also served as the Rotary Foundation District Co-ordinator and was a strong supporter of the Group Study Exchange program. Together with his wife Yvonne they have been great supporters of the programs and ideals of Rotary International. Especially District 9820 and the. Both have indeed given Service Above Self. Our club members and partners wish to congratulate Rob on this wonderful achievement. 5 This week I wanted to highlight a comment from Bill Gates Senior yes that s right the current Bill Gates was not the first Gates who was involved in Rotary and as CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates Senior worked hard to progress the vision for Polio eradication. He wrote in 2009: Rotary members have done everything from spending their vacations immunising children in faraway places, to lobbying heads of State, to negotiating cease-fires in civil wars long enough to get millions of children vaccinated. They ve shown us how to mobilize people, raise more money than anybody thought volunteers could, and created private-public partnerships that can take on large-scale global projects. Along the way they have taught us that when we are inspired to work together in the interest of an engaging cause, there is no problem bigger than we are Great inspiring and motivating words for all of us. Proud to be Rotarian Esther Murray Commentary on History of Rotary Foundation by Esther Murray PDG Rob Marks cutting the 50th anniversary cake of his joining Rotary. Congratulations Rob from all at RCMM. Our Guest Speaker, David Wright from Ties for Life Foundation speaking on Mental Health problems in Youth.
