TRAVELING IN THE CITY TIPS Here are a few tips for traveling in the city during the course of the summer intensive program: ALWAYS travel with a friend or fellow student especially in the evening. If you are traveling at night, try to get into the subway car with the conductor (middle car) or where the motorman is located (first car). Try to avoid the subways at late hours.

18 Only use NYC cabs (yellow cabs). NEVER use gypsy cabs (black town cars) or car services that stop and offer to pick you up. Do not carry too much money on you while traveling. Only bring with you what you think you will spend. Subway stations are found at almost every corner you turn. A subway map is enclosed for you. Metrocards are only available at the Metrocard machines or the token booth in the stations. You can use cash or a debit card. Plan Options: *Please note that you cannot swipe multiple times in a row with any Metrocard. $1 fee for a new Metrocard. Single Ride..$2.75 (Sold at vending machines only.
