4 BAKERSFIELD REGIONAL MARKET Metro: Economy: The Bakersfield metro encompasses all of Kern County in the southern portion of the San Joaquin Valley in California and contains a population of more than 865,000 people. Bakersfield is the most populated city in the County with 357,200 residents in the city limits, followed by Delano and Ridgecrest.
