In order to move forward with this new governance model, changes will need to be made to our current Bylaws. To make any changes effective, a special membership meeting must be held where members must vote to approve the changes already approved and recommended by the Board of Directors. Notice of the meeting was mailed out to all offices August 20, To better understand the changes we have provided a redlined version of the proposed bylaw amendments and an unmarked version of the bylaw amendments. The market is continuing to imrprove and our members are getting busier and busier. The proposed changes call for the use of working groups in addition to committees. Working groups come together to work on one topic, make a recommendation to the Board of Directors, and then their job is done. The year long committment required for committees is thereby eliminated, saving our members time but allowing them to participate and give valuable feedback to the Association. The Board of Directors role will be more future focused. Our industry is moving very rapidly and the Board wants to keep their eyes on the future in order to keep up. Case in point, Zillow bought Trulia for 3.5 billion dollars in a matter of 6 weeks. The new governance model more clearly defines the roles of Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors. These changes will help bring the organization's mission to the forefront, helping the Board stay focused and driven. The Association needs your professional skills and would like to have more input from you. Working groups and Focus groups will allow more members to contribute.
