7 Feedback from former graduates I did my undergraduate degree in architecture but have always leaned more towards the more technical aspects of the domain. That being said, there was no way I was going to get a job or experience in engineering with only a background in architecture. The building science program was a crash course in building engineering, and then allowed me to customize my direcjon of study during the summer while I worked on my MRP in urban rooeop greenhouses. In this way, I was able to get basically my dream job, because I could tell them I had the big picture viewpoint of an architect, with the basic knowledge of an engineer, and I had personally extensively researched urban rooeop greenhouses - which is exactly their business. (Andrea Vickers, 2013) I believe other than the technical knowledge on sustainable pracjces & building envelope, the most important skill that I took away from the program at Ryerson was how to work with people of various backgrounds. This is an important skill set in the construcjon industry. The program lets you mold itself to your interests. (Susan Benjamin, 2010) 7

19 CollaboraJve acjvity This is a self directed exercise whereby students collaborate with students or groups outside the program on a project Students work in teams under the guidance of Ryerson faculty members or design professionals in the community Students gain experience in collaborajve work with industry and community and other design professionals, Students parjcipate in a concentrated and focused special event for example: a charreve design compejjon community related design acjvity educajonal outreach This is a Milestone and is given a Pass/Fail. Requiring 50hrs of acjvity Requires a proposal (to be veved) and a substanjal final report to be submived, reviewed and approved. 19
