2 JOURNAL OF ORIENTAL STUDIES UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG The Jo urnal of Oriental Studies was established in 1954 as a bilingual periodical issued by the former Institute of Oriental Studies of the University of Hong Kong. In 1969 it was continued by the new Centre of Asian Studies of the University of Hong Kong, and it now appears twice a year, in January and July, and includes articles in English and in Chinese on the arts and social sciences in East and Southeast Asia, and reviews of new scholarly publications on China and Southeast Asia. The Journal is an indispensable adjunct to oriental studies and is taken by. university libraries where there is academic work and interest in the Far East. An annual subscription costs HK$60 (US$12, UK 4.) and the price of single issues is HK$30 (approximately US$6 at current rates of exchange). As a special offer while stocks last, complete sets of the Journal Vols 1-X inclusive are being offered to libraries and to individuals for HK$300 (US$60, UK 22.) subject to taking an advance subscription.
