18 Equestrian Facilities The Equestrian Centre is exceptionally well equipped and is one of the finest equestrian centres in the country. It is well laid out to enable the best possible care of competition horses. There are numerous facilities which include: solariums, vibrating floors and a salt water treadmill/spa. At its centre is the 158 x 81 (48m x 25m) indoor school, which has a Martin Collins surface, and to the south west and north of which are the stables. To the north east is the staff accommodation which is currently split into three units, one with six bedrooms, one with two bedrooms and one with one bedroom. These all have access to the equestrian area to enable the best possible supervision of the horses. The current owners have recently re-roofed the main equestrian complex. To the east of the indoor school is an extensive viewing area and bar as well as an office and reception. In addition to the main equestrian facilities is a further foaling block with 10 stables all with CCTV cameras and heat lamps. There is also a lunge ring which benefits from a Martin Collins surface and covered horse walker. To complete the equestrian facilities there is a 148 x 230 (45m x 70m) outdoor manège, also with a Martin Collins surface, and a large general purpose barn which is currently used for vehicle storage and as a workshop. Surrounding the equestrian centre is approximately 71 acres (29 ha) of railed paddocks and pasture, together with about 104 acres (42 ha) of woodland. Within the grounds are a number of permanent cross country and show jumping fences to include a replica of the famous Devils Dyke at Hickstead. There is also an extensive water jump. In addition to all of these equestrian facilities there is an extensive 2.15km (1.33 miles) all weather gallops and exercise track, with a Martin Collins surface, which is situated within the woodland and makes full advantage of the contours to provide excellent fitness training for horses. 18
