2 FiRM Profile Hope-Amundson, a California Corporation established in 1993, has risen to become one of Southern California s premier structural engineering firms by applying the highest standards of technical expertise, business ethics and professional integrity to meet the specific goals and requirements of every project we undertake. With more than 80 years of family history in the engineering and architectural industry, the Hope name has earned a reputation for outstanding quality and service. Our staff of 33 includes 19 licensed engineers with experience on new building design, building renovations, tenant improvements and design/build delivery for a wide variety of market sectors. Recognized as industry leaders, the firm s leadership holds professional registrations in many western states and are affiliated with various professional organizations, both locally and nationally, including the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC). 5 Icon Residential Building San Diego, California Levin Menzies & Associates LLC Ledcor SD Construction, Inc. TannerHecht ure services for a redevelopment project on the site of the original Carnation/Qualitee Dairy Building, located adjacent to the home of the San Diego Padres, Petco Park. Icon is comprised of four individual residential towers situated over a three-level, subterranean parking garage accommodating up to 490 vehicles. Both the residential towers and parking garage are concrete framed (Type 1 construction). Tower 1 is 24 stories-high (approximately 192,700 square-feet) consisting of 143 units and a roof terrace with bleacher seating. Tower 2 is 11 storieshigh (approximately 109,300 square-feet) with 66 units. Tower 3 is nine stories-high (approximately 60,000 square-feet) with 50 units and Tower 4 is five stories-high (approximately 37,800 square-feet) with 26 units. Approximately 31,500 square-feet of retail space has been incorporated at the Ground Level of the four residential towers H-A2003

6 719 Ash Street Hotel San Diego, California Narven Enterprises, Inc. TBD Joseph Wong Design Associates design and construction documents for an upscale 332-room hotel project in downtown San Diego. When constructed, the 275,000- square-foot hotel will consist of 18 levels above grade and four levels below grade to accommodate parking for 208 vehicles. The Ground Level will include dual lobbies, restaurant, retail and back of house space. The Second Level will include meeting, office and sales space. Levels 3 through 14 will be guest room levels, with large penthouse suites on the top level. The 8th Floor will feature an outdoor pool, spa and patio seating area. Eco roofs have been incorporated at Level 3, Level 8 and at the upper roof. Construction of the hotel and subterranean parking will consist of Type I, cast-in-place and posttensioned concrete. Lateral resistance is provided by concrete shear walls. The will be seeking the U.S. Green Building Council s LEED Silver certification upon completion of the project H-A2007

7 Doma Residential Building San Diego, California CityMark Development Swinerton & Walberg Martinez + Cutri Corporation services for this residential and mixed-use project located in San Diego s Little Italy district. The project includes an eight-story, 112,000-squarefoot building with 68 condo units and a four-story, 89,000-square-foot building featuring 52 condo units. The two residential buildings sit atop a twolevel, 135,000-square-foot subterranean parking garage which provides 227 vehicle spaces. Situated on this site is the historical Stamp Building, which was retained, renovated and incorporated into the final design as a retail space. The project earned the American Institute of s Merit Award in H-A2001

8 Bella Via Residential Building San Diego, California Bella Via Associates, LLC Roel Construction Carrier Johnson + CULTURE services for the Bella Via, a mixed-use project that includes a six-story, 74,000-square-foot building featuring 41 condominium units and 5,000-squarefeet of street level retail. The facility also includes a two-level (one-level above grade and one-level subterranean) parking garage. The 21,000-squarefoot parking garage accommodates 59 vehicles. Bella Via is one of 14 residential projects planned, underway or recently completed in Little Italy H-A2001

9 Mission Hills Commons San Diego, California Mission Hills Investors, LLC Carter Reese Associates Carrier Johnson + CULTURE services for this mixed-use/residential project built in two phases. The first phase included two separate buildings connected by an exterior exit balcony atop a one-level, 80-vehicle parking garage. The two buildings total approximately 52,000 square-feet combined. The East Building features 27 apartment units and the West Building contains 23 apartment units and one floor of retail space. Site amenities include a community room, manager s office and exercise room. The second phase of the project included two separate buildings connected by an elevated exterior exit balcony. Both buildings are mixed occupancy and include apartment units (two units in the West Building and five units in the East Building) with a mezzanine level on the third floor over ground level retail space H-A2000

10 UC San Diego Muir College Tamarack Apartments La Jolla, California UC San Diego Sundt Construction, Inc. Delawie services for this design-build student housing facility located on the UCSD Muir College campus in La Jolla. The scope also included project program confirmation resulting in a Detailed Project Program (DPP). The new campus facility consists of a two-building, nine-story, 100,920-square-foot student residence facility containing 275 beds constructed of cast-inplace concrete with shear walls providing lateral resistance. The first level of the LEED Gold Certified residence hall features meeting space, a small retail market, laundry facilities and custodial and maintenance areas. The resident population is primarily undergraduate second year students H-A2007

11 UC San Diego The Rita Atkinson Student Residences La Jolla, California UC San Diego Webcor Builders Valerio Dewalt Train The Rita is a design-build residence hall project comprised of two wings, one seven stories-tall and one nine stories-tall, with 226 fully furnished apartments configured in two-bedroom units. Amenities include a green roof, on-site conference, study and meeting rooms, a fitness room and laundry facilities. services for The Rita, also known as the Health Sciences Graduate Housing. The design-build process enabled the team to accelerate the project schedule and minimize construction costs. Students were able to move into the apartments one year ahead of schedule. The project was awarded LEED Gold Level Certification for Core & Shell from the U.S. Green Building Council. UC San Diego is one of the top-tanked public research universities in the nation H-A2008

12 MetroWork Office Building San Diego, California Berkson Realty Advisors, Inc. Swinerton Builders Baldauf Catton Von Eckartsberg services for this nine-story, 80,000-square-foot, Class A office building with an upscale restaurant and retail space located on a narrow 50-foot-wide by 200-foot-long downtown lot with existing structures on both sides. MetroWork contains 27 office suites and Anthology, a 250-seat upscale restaurant, bar and upscale live music venue on the first three levels. Located on the edge of downtown San Diego s Little Italy neighborhood, the building is constructed of cast-inplace concrete H-A2004

13 Westgate Hotel Renovation San Diego, California Photo: Hollander Design Group Westgate Hotel Johnson & Jennings Hollander Design Group services for interior renovations to the Westgate Hotel, originally constructed in the 1960s, and rooftop pool additions to the adjacent Riviera Terrace amenity building. Upon completion of the renovation and addition project, the Westgate provides hotel guests luxury lounging, sunning and swimming amenities with the addition of new spas on the Riviera Deck mezzanine, a new lap pool at the roof level and an outdoor fitness area on the main hotel s roof deck. The Riviera Deck is also used for events booked at the hotel throughout the year. Additional improvements included the enclosure of pool equipment, stair and elevator shaft extensions and shade structures associated with the outdoor exercise areas H-A2011

14 Fort Irwin Guest Hotel Fort Irwin Military Base Barstow, California Landmark Organization Joe E. Woods Edward J. Cass & Associates services for an approximately 87,000-squarefoot hotel project located in the Fort Irwin Army Post outside of Barstow, California. Landmark Organization, based in Austin, Texas, served as the developer for the three-story, 180-room hotel. Fort Irwin, also known as the National Training Center (NTC), is the only training facility in the world that is designed for force-on-force and live fire training of heavy brigade-sized military forces. The NTC provides 4,000-5,000 soldiers essential training opportunities to train them to become the world s best Army H-A2000

15 Viejas Outlet Center Alpine, California Viejas Casino & Turf Club Douglas E. Barnhart, Inc. Carrier Johnson + CULTURE Hope-Amundson provided the structural engineering services for Phase II of the Viejas Outlet Center, incorporating four one-story steel-framed buildings into the retail outlet center s existing 180,000 square-feet of tenant space. The is one of the largest and most successful Native American tribes in San Diego County. The rich heritage of the Viejas band is reflected in the Southwestern style of architecture and through the use of sculptural landscape elements. Meandering pathways, rock outcroppings and distinctive water features capture the essence of the tribe s history and success H-A1998

16 Pechanga Recreation Center Temecula, California Pechanga Development Corporation Roel Construction Delawie services for a two-story recreation center in Temecula, California. The Pechanga Recreation Center features a gymnasium, locker rooms, bowling center, billiards room, arcade, classrooms and other assembly spaces. The adjacent site development includes a competition swimming pool, recreation pool, spa and associated support facilities. Hope-Amundson provided subsequent tenant improvements to accommodate an outdoor fireplace and rooftop mechanical equipment H-A2007
