Highlands County Natural Resources Department: The parcel is listed as wetlands under the Selected Natural Resources tool in the Highlands County Interactive Map. Aerial photography and the US Fish and Wildlife s National Wetlands Inventory indicate that two freshwater emergent wetlands and two freshwater ponds do exist in the footprint of the area proposed for location of an air strip. Since this is part of a previously permitted project (SFWMD Environmental Resources Permit # P), any requested activities that would impact these wetlands need to be addressed through the South Florida Water Management District. Staff Recommendation(s): If approved, the Staff recommends the following Conditions of Approval: 1. The Applicant shall adhere to the Environmental Clearance process as outlined in Article 12, Division 6 of the Highlands County Land Development Regulations and receive written approval from the South Florida Water Management District, prior to construction of the air strip. General Notes Note: All conditions of approval, unless otherwise specified, shall be met prior to the effectiveness and validity of the special exception approval.
