16 AREA OVERVIEW Parker, Colorado Parker is a home rule municipality in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. As a self-declared Town under the Home Rule statutes, Parker is the second most populous town in the county; Castle Rock is the most populous. In recent years, Parker has become a commuter town at the south eastern most corner of the Denver Metropolitan Area. The Town of Parker had a population of 53,921 as of July 1, Parker is now the 19th most populous municipality in the state of Colorado. From Parker, one can visit the Colorado Governor s Mansion and the Colorado State Capitol, which was built in The Denver Mint, which produced the first coins in America in 1906, is also easily accessible from the town. The Four Mile Historic Park, the Littleton Historical Museum, el Museo de las Americas, the Museum of Outdoor Arts and Wings over the Rockies Air & Space Museum have some very interesting exhibits. The Wildlife Experience Museum has an impressive collection of wildlife art. Parker is served by Douglas County School District RE-1.
