1 WREN 15 WORLD RENEWABLE ENERGY CONGRESS Jakarta Convention Center, September Dr Winfried Hoffmann Some of the Invited Speakers Dr. Winfried Hoffmann graduated in physics and did his PhD-thesis in biophysics. He joined the just formed photovoltaic R & D group for thin film solar cells of NUKEM in 1979 and took over its leadership in He initiated the Joint-Venture in the photovoltaic field between NUKEM and Daimler-Benz Aerospace to form "Angewandte Solarenergie - ASE GmbH" in 1994 where he served as Managing Director. In the same year the acquisition of 100 % shares of Mobil Solar as a subsidiary company was done. In October 2002 the Joint Venture between RWE Solutions and SCHOTT Glas, the RWE SCHOTT Solar GmbH, was formed, where he served as Chairman of the Board. Effective in 2005 SCHOTT acquired the shares of RWE Solutions and the company was renamed SCHOTT Solar GmbH where he was Member of the Management Committee. In 2007 he joined Applied Materials to become Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of the Solar Business Group and member of the Management Board of the German based Applied Materials GmbH. From November 2010 he served with his consulting company ASE to the solar business of Applied Materials. Since March 2012 he represents SMA Solar Technology AG as member of the board of EPIA. He is currently President of the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), member of the Scientific Board of the Fraunhofer institute for solar energy (FhG-ISE), member of the Supervisory Board of the institute for solar energy research in Hameln (ISFH), the Helmholtz Centre Berlin and the company SMA Solar Technology AG as well as chairman of the Supervisory Board of Solarfabrik AG. His Title: The important role Solar Photovoltaic will play for the future Global Secondary Energy Supply Dr Jazaer Dawody

2 Jazaer Dawody has a PhD degree in Materials Science from Chalmers University of Technology and a M.Sc. degree in Physical Chemistry from Gothenburg University. She is currently working at Volvo Technology Corporation in Gothenburg Sweden as project manager for both European and Swedish projects for the development of Fuel Cell-based Auxiliary Power Units s as well as energy efficient low emission exhaust gas after treatment systems for mobile applications. Dr. Dawody has also been working at Powercell Sweden as manager for the development of fuel converter systems and as senior researcher at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg Sweden. She has a strong background in catalyst preparation, characterization, deactivation, performance optimization, reaction kinetics and modeling. She is a member of the scientific committee of CAPC (Catalysis and Automotive Pollution Control) and chair for the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells technical committee of WREC. Her Title: How can Renewable Energy Implemented in Road Transport Prof. Robert E. CRITOPH Institute and ISES. Bob Critoph is a professor in the Division of Civil and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Warwick. His first degree was in Aeronautical Engineering, from Southampton University but he went on to do a PhD in energy analysis also at Southampton. As a result of this work he was awarded the Institute of Energy Bone- Wheeler Medal. He then worked in the Open University Energy Research Group as a Research Fellow, responsible for the design, construction and testing of a gas engine driven heat pump. From 1979 he has been at Warwick lecturing in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Solar Energy. His research is in adsorption refrigeration and heat pump systems, with uses ranging from solar refrigeration and air conditioning to gas-fired heat pumps. At present, his research team consists of two post-doctoral RA s and two PhD students and he has five active research projects worth 1.2. He has been a member of WREN since 1990 and is a member of the Energy His Title: i-stute: research in low carbon heating and cooling Mr. Rainer Hinrichs-Rahlwes Rainer is an experienced Renewable Energy expert. Since May 2014, he serves has been serving as a Vice-President of EREF (European Renewable Energies Federation), the voice of independent producers of energy from renewable sources. From 2010 to 2014 he had been EREF s President. Furthermore, he had been the President of the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC), the umbrella organization of Renewables in Europe, which had to be dissolved in March Rainer also is a Board Member of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE), a mandate which he has been holding since He is BEE s Spokesperson for European and international affairs, and he is the Chairman of BEE s related working group.

3 He is a Member of the WREN-Council, the advisory structure of the World Renewable Energy Network. And he is closely cooperating with other international organizations in the area of Renewables, such as IRENA, die IEA, the Global100%Renewables-Campaign and others. From November 1998 to December 2005, he was a Director General in the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), in charge of among others renewable energies and climate protection. As a representative of BMU he was one of the two chairmen of the International Steering Committee preparing the renewables2004-conference in Bonn. After the conference, he served as BMU s representative and a founding co-chair and later a member of the Bureau of the Global Policy Network, now known as REN21. Awarded by the annual title of the year 2006 as Promoter of Renewable Energy by the Clean Energy magazine. Awarded by the Ministry of Buildings in 2006 for a chapter Low energy buildings. Awarded in 2012 by the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology for the Best Scientific Achievements in Author of 220 national and international papers and 9 books and different reports. Her Title: Traditional and Modern Options of Energy Conservation in Buildings Professor Marco Sala

4 Marco Sala, graduated from University of Florence in Architecture in 1972 is registered architect since 1973, Chairman of Marco Sala Associates, Architecture and Energy Consultants, he specialises in passive solar systems in architecture, environmental design and energy conscious building design. Full Professor in Architectural Technology at the University of Florence. Founder and Director of ABITA Interuniversity Research Centre based in Florence University, Director of European Master ABITA in Sustainable Architecture, has extensive experience in European research projects, as group leader and coordinator (JOULE, ALTENER, SAVE, VII FW, EIE) Visiting Professor at London Metropolitan University and Lecturer in energy topics in post-graduate Course many Italian Universities. Professor Marco Sala authored some 70 scientific papers/conference reports, produced about 20 books, proceedings volumes and organised and chaired many International Conferences and Exhibitions on renewable energy and sustainable architecture such TIA-Network (Florence 1996, 98, Oxford 2000, Krems 07, 08 WREC (Florence 1998 and 2006, Brigthon 2000). Past vice President of Eurosolar (The European Association for Solar Energy). Fonder member of TIA (Teaching in Architecture Energy and Environment World Network). Member of the Bioclimatic Committee of ISES Italia, WREN (World Renewable Energy Network) and Associate Member of PLEA (Passive and Low Energy Architecture). His role as a teacher of Architectural Technology in the University of Florence works in tandem with the office research base and practice with many realised bioclimatic buildings and consultancies for public administrations and international companies. Recent projects: Technology Park in Lucca, Multiplex and Commercial Centre in Prato, Rotating Tower in Dubai. His title: Sustainable anti-seismic practices the cases of niasisland-indonesia and the contribution of Tuscany region Prof. Liwei WANG Prof. Liwei WANG (L.W. Wang) had gotten her PhD degree in Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in After that she worked in SJTU for five years. Then she worked in the Warwick University as a Research Fellow for the Royal Society International Incoming Fellowship in 2010, and worked in the Newcastle University for one year (Dec to Dec. 2011) as a Research Fellow that was founded by the EU Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowship. At the end of 2011 she returned to SJTU, and was promoted to the professor in SJTU in The research experience of Prof. Wang mainly focuses on the conversion of low grade heat with the technology of solid sorption. She has published over 50 papers in international journals, published 2 books, contributed to 2 books and obtained 6 invention patents. She has given 16 lectures in national and international conferences, including 6 keynote lectures (5 national and 1 international).

5 On heat and mass transfer intensification for the solid sorbents, Dr. Wang studied the anisotropic thermal conductivity and permeability of compact expanded graphite, and developed the thermal conductive consolidated sorbents for refrigeration. On solid sorption theory and its application, she studied the precursor state of chemical sorption, and constructed dynamic models for chemical sorption processes. She designed the physical and composite sorption systems for fishing boats and trucks, proposed a new idea for the solid sorption deep freezing cycle, and proposed the new resorption cycle for the cogeneration of electricity and refrigeration. On the research and education she had gotten numerous awards, such as the National Second Award for the Natural Science Research, the National 100 Outstanding PhD Theses, IIR Young Researchers Award, First Award for Natural Science Research in Shanghai City of China, Royal Society International Incoming Fellowship in UK, EU Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowship, the First Award of SJTU for Excellent Teachers, the title of Excellent Class Advisors for Undergraduates in SJTU, etc.. Her title: Properties of compact expanded natural graphite and its application as the matrix of solid sorbents for refrigeration Prof. Dr. Mukhtasor His education was in ITS Indonesia (B. 6 Prof Kai Zhang Professor Kai Zhang is the Chair Professor in Chemical Engineering, North China Electric Power University. He received his PhD degree of Chemical Engineering from Institute of Coal Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in He was promoted to associate professor in 1999 and served as Deputy Director of Chemical Engineering Division at the Institute of Coal Chemistry. He was a Visiting Scholar at Cagliari University (1998), awarded Royal Society Royal Fellowship at Cambridge University ( ), and became a Senior Research Fellow at University College London ( ). In 2003, he was appointed as the Chair Professor for Multiphase Flow in the School of Chemical Engineering, China University of Petroleum (Beijing). In 2009, he was appointed to the current position and was charged to establish the Centre of Chemical Technology for Energy, which was later developed into the present Beijing Key Laboratory of Emission Surveillance and Control in Thermal Power Generation in He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, co-organized more than 10 international or national conferences, and severed as an Associate Editor for Bioenergy of <Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews>, a member of Editorial Broad of <Advances in Materials Science and Engineering> and <Journal of Fuel Chemistry and Technology>. He is an Adjunct Professor of the University of Western Australia and a Visiting Professor of the University of Edinburgh. He was awarded the 2nd prize of Nature Sciences by the Ministry of Education of PR China in 2012, and the 2nd National Prize for Significant Progress in Scientific & Technology by Chinese Government in His research interests are clean energy conversion process, chemical reaction engineering, and multiphase flow computational fluid dynamics.
