6 Conference Themes: Many regional building approaches to traditional building forms and city planning around the world offer intrinsically sustainable practices for the built environment. This theme will draw out and discuss these rich traditions to promote how they might be both maintained in a new era of rapid urbanization. These can be drawn upon to meet the challenges of environmental sustainability appropriate to the region and its culture. The theme will focus on the following topics: - Sustainable cities in the age of big data - Livable public realm - Delivering sustainability in mega projects - Sustainability in operation The application of sustainability presents a business opportunity but only in a niche market that is slowly growing and sometimes subject to economizing due to government directive. But it needn t be this way as sustainability provokes and stimulate change. And with change comes business opportunities. Moreover, sometimes these changes inspire a paradigm shift that effectively changes the market. Sustainability implies rethinking issues from first principles and sometimes this can lead to market transformation that is not only more sustainable but is also more resource efficient and thus more economically viable. The theme will focus on the following topics: - Innovative solutions for sustainability - The business case of sustainability - Green entrepreneurships The success of sustainable development heavily relies on the society s endorsement, engagement and believing in sustainability as a tool for the much needed shift in both social and individual behavior. It is also the perfect opportunity to guide citizens to be environmentally friendly in their day-to-day lives. It s simply sustainability as a life style for all. The them will focus on the following topic: - Drivers for behavior change
