3 PRESENTATION OF THE COMPANY Alpina is one of the oldest engineering companies in Italy. It was established in Milan in 1954 and has participated in the economic life of the city for the past 60 years. Formerly owned by the holding companies La Centrale Finanziaria S.p.A. and Bastogi S.p.A., since 1989 it is owned by the professionals who work there. Present partners are eng. Guido Peri; arch. Marco Conte; eng. Paola Erba; Dr. Federico Peri. The company s paid-up capital is Eur entirely private and not connected with any building company, gear supplier or financial company. Alpina produces designs for largescale infrastructures and buildings, performs feasibility and territorial planning studies, provides supervision of works, technical, financial and administrative advice and manages the construction of projects with attention to safety, environment and costs. Alpina specializes in the following four disciplines: - HYDRAULICS (hydroelectric power plants, river structures, dams); - TRANSPORTATION (highways, railways); - STRUCTURES (Civil engineering structures and buildings) - UNDERGROUND (subways, tunnels, soil treatment, foundations); - URBAN DEVELOPMENT (primary and secondary urbanization projects) - PUBLIC BUILDINGS (public buildings). The company s turnover has remained steady in recent years at around 5,5 million Euro per year and regards exclusively the engineering services above indicated. At present Alpina has projects in in Italy, France, Denmark, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Chile, Saudi Arabia and Israel. In recent years it has also worked in Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Ecuador, UAE, Ethiopia, the former Yugoslavia, Jordan, Greece, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Liberia, Libya, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Panama, Qatar, Somalia, Spain, Tanzania and Yemen. Alpina holds the Quality Management System Certificate for the Standard UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 issued by Det Norske Veritas; the certification is for the following ranges of services: Feasibility studies, design works supervision, safety works supervision and safety coordination of large scale engineering projects including: hydroelectric power plants, tunnels, river intakes and embankments, dams, roads and railways, bridges, quarries, infrastructures and buildings. Provision of project review and technical control services for civil and plant engineering (Sector EA: 34). Alpina is insured against professional risks with a specific Professional All Risks policy. Its designers are qualified to perform the role of safety coordinator under Italian Law Decree n 81/08. Alpina is registered and qualified in accordance with several private and public engineering service suppliers qualification systems in Italy and with Lyon Turin Ferroviaire in France. Alpina s organization includes about 70 employees. It is thus large enough to handle big projects but also well organized to closely supervise every design with personal care by directly involving top company engineers and designers.

4 CIVIL ENGINEERING STRUCTURES One of Alpina's typical fields of activity is structural engineering. A wide range of structures have been designed by the company, all of considerable importance for the relevance and nature of the problems addressed. Alpina uses sophisticated modelling methods for its structural calculations. Their specialized fields of operation are seismic analysis of complex structures in three-dimensions and verification of the issues concerning the interaction between the ground and the structure. The areas in which Alpina works in structural design and planning concern works associated with transport infrastructure, bridges and viaducts, hydraulic constructions such as dams, intake structures, pipelines, and building structures. Recently Alpina has designed the structures of the marina and the buildings of the Portonovi project in Montenegro and the multifunction platform Podio - of Urban Plan Garibaldi-Repubblica in Milan along with the Underground line 5 that crosses it, coordinating the requirements of the new Garibaldi station of the same M5 line, the pre-existing infrastructure in the area, such as the Milano Garibaldi Greco railway line, the city rail link, Underground line 2, and the requirements expressed by the architect of the Urban Plan buildings, Cesar Pelli.
