3 Invitation to students worldwide Tamayouz is delighted to invite students of Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture Technology and Landscape Design worldwide to register and submit their Graduation Projects. An independent international jury will review all entries and will select the winners of Tamayouz International Award Prizes include: An MSc Scholarship for 2 Years at the Polytechnic University of Milan, supervisor the Year Medal, University of the Year Medallion. All the selected winners making the TOP 3 list, the supervisor of the year and the university of the Year will be invited to attend our annual Tamayouz Excellence Award ceremony (Travel Expenses covered by the organisers of the Award). 3

4 TAMAYOUZ EXCELLENCE AWARD The Iraqi Architecture Prize Tamayouz Excellence Award (Established in 2012) is an independent initiative with no political affiliation, which aims to advance the profession of architecture both academically and professionally. Tamayouz is dedicated to supporting aspirational and transformative projects tackling local and global challenges informed by a holistic understanding of context. 4

There is a new, invigorated ethos of worldwide collaboration within architecture; a truly collective research culture where many contributions and innovations feed into each other. 9 Sponsors Current and former sponsors Voluntary contributions sustain Tamayouz Excellence Award and affirm support for the excellence culture we strive for. Funding for Tamayouz Excellence Award comes from academic institutions, foundations and international organizations. 10 Eligibility Only if all the following conditions apply then you are eligible to participate You (if Participating as an individual) or your team members (if participating as a team) are expected to present your project to your school or graduate between 01/09/2017 and 31/08/2018*. Participants to submit work done only in their final year of studies regardless of the project nature, programme, budget and scale (Students can submit graduation projects or any other final year design project as long as it was produced in their final year of study). If a Team / individual would like to submit more than one project then each submission will need to be registered as a separate entry. If you participated in Tamayouz International Award s previous year, you are not eligible to participate this year. *Finalists will be asked to provide Proof of their status as a final year student graduating during the specified period. 10

11 Regulations Tamayouz International s Regulations and Guidelines - This is an anonymous competition and the Unique Registration Number is the only means of identification. - The official language of the award is English. - The registration fee is / 20 (Great British Pound) and it is non-refundable. - Contacting the Jury is prohibited. - Tamayouz Award, as the award organiser, reserves the right to modify the award schedule if deemed necessary. - Entries will not be reviewed if any of the rules or submission requirements are not considered. - Participation assumes acceptance of the regulations. 11

The Scholarship Covers Top 20 Shortlist Tamayouz Medal entries in the Top 10 Certificate Accommodation, Flights and workshop fee for winners. * Tamayouz Certificates + Certificate Tamayouz Medallion Prizes are per entry, for team entries, prizes will be split between the team members evenly. *The Travel Scholarship has a limit of $1500 per winning entry. The Ceremony An invitation to attend the Tamayouz Award Annual Ceremony for the winners mentioned above (Flight and Accommodation costs covered by the organisers of the award; Tamayouz Excellence Award for the TOP 3 winners), Every year Tamayouz International Award chooses a different city to host the ceremony, in 2017 it was held in Amman - Jordan. This year s City will be announced later in the year. 12

14 Assessment Criteria for 2018 We are looking for aspirational and transformative projects tackling local and global challenges informed by a holistic understanding of context. RELEVANCE: A clear declaration of conditions that set the contextual parameters of the project through identification of local challenges, construction and living culture. RESPONSE: Aspirational and original projects with programmatic response to existing environmental and social conditions and local challenges. RESOLUTION: Spatial, material and technical justification. Clarity of design process. IMPACT: Clear definition of positive transformative social, spatial and environmental impact of the project. VISION: Aesthetic, materials and technical ambitions. 14

15 REGISTRATION Deadline for Registration is 15 / August / 2018 Individuals and Teams Institutions National Sponsors This is the registration option open for individuals and Team who their University is not listed as an Institutional Sponsor and there is no National Sponsor for their country*. Registration Guide in the following page. *Since it is only the third year of this award it is possible that neither your institution or a country sponsor has sponsored the award, for this reason we advise you to register on your own. This option is open for Institutions interested in sponsoring their students to participate in Tamayouz International Award, this type of registration is suitable for Institutions interested in showcasing their students work on a global platform. Please contact us if you are a representative of your university or think your university might be interested in sponsoring its students to participate in an International Award. If you or your organisation are interested in sponsoring the students of your country as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility program to support the young graduates of your country, please contact us and we can discuss with you the benefits of such sponsorship. By becoming a National Sponsor it means you give the opportunity to all young architects in your country to participate in this international award. 17 2017 Participation In 2017, 468 students from 118 universities and 52 countries participated in Tamayouz International, making it the largest annual graduation projects award in the world for the number of participants. 17

21 Exhibition and Presentations Two public exhibitions were held in Amman, and the Top 10 winners presented their works to universities in Jordan H.E. Minister of Housing and Public works in Jordan, H.E Iraq s Ambassador to Jordan and Executive Board of the Iraqi Business Council in Jordan visit the Exhibition Triplicity Architects - Honorable Mention 2017 Head of Architecture at Cambridge University, Professor Wendy Pullan (judge) and the winners of the Rifat Chadirji Prize

22 Tamayouz 2017 in Jordan The Ceremony was followed by a full day workshop at the University of Jordan and then everyone enjoyed some of Jordan s fantastic touristic spots, the whole team, winners, judges and sponsors spent 4 days in Jordan. 23 What do our winners say Nipun Prabhakar - India Third Prize It is true that we live many little lives in our one big lifetime. This trip was one of that little life that I will cherish forever. People I met were the best in what they do and believe in. Inspiration will be an understatement for what they gave me. My time in Jordan changed my perspectives and gave me hope on how initiatives like TAMAYOUZ can change the world through love and compassion.
