2 89-60 Ed Gould 2 / ; predominant m of Textual Records 101 Photographs (includes 2 sheets of negatives: 8 strips) BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE Ed Gould was born in Alberta in 1936 and educated at the University of British Columbia and University of Victoria. Gould began writing as a reporter and editor for various newspapers, the Canadian Press and the CBC before establishing himself as a freelance writer. He also worked as a freelance broadcaster and publisher and co-founded his own publishing company, Cappis Press. Goulds writing has appeared in numerous periodicals and newspapers and in 1973 he was awarded the Media Club of Canada award. Between 1975 and 1988, twelve books written by Gould were published, many of which focus specifically on Canadian subjects. In addition, Gould has written book reviews, pieces of fiction and humour, and articles that reflect his interest in travel, film, the arts and Canadian personalities. The Ed Gould collection, which spans from 1965 to 1991, contains personal and professional correspondence, published material by and about the writer, and various background materials. Also included are several unpublished drafts of stories and articles. SCOPE AND CONTENT The records in the Ed Gould Collection, 89 60, consists of various books he received, correspondence; both personal and professional, publications by and about Ed Gould, research materials, and scripts by Ed Gould and other authors. There are seven series in this collection: Books, Correspondence, Personal, Publications, Publications by Ed Gould, Research, and Scripts. NOTES Most of the original file titles have been retained while some files have been established or reorganized.
