Some hazards are more specific to some pieces of equipment, ent, and these are listed in the safety section of the Operators Manual. Read the Operation and Maintenance Manual prior to operating a machine. Understand all operating, assembly and disassembly, servicing, and safety procedures prior to operating the equipment. Don t wait until it s too late! Ask as many questions during the initial task training as needed to become comfortable with the equipment. The manufacturer has designed and built the equipment to be assembled, disassembled and operated in a certain manner. All of the technical information to safely operate the equipment can be found in the operators manuals. W.O. Grubb has many types of equipment and no one person can possibly remember all there is to know about each one. That s why we encourage everyone to read and follow the manufacturers recommended operating and maintenance procedures. Don t be the person who is too proud to ask a question.

3 Richmond Rigging Frank Natale s job preparing to move the SR-71 Blackbird. The Demag AC160/2, 200 ton All Terrain Crane, operated by Chris Lewis and Wade Freeman III as the oiler, the Linkbelt HTC8640HL, 40 ton Hydraulic Truck Crane, operated by Jerry Draper, and the Richmond Rigging Department all collaborated to rig the aircraft measuring different dimensions to eventually put it inside the Virginia Science Museum. Some interesting facts about the Blackbird: It was the fastest plane ever flown from Top speed was 2,200 miles/hour Could go from New York to London in 1 hour and 55 minutes Pilots had to wear astronaut designed suits because of the pressure TEAM GRUBB Team Grubb had their first set of games September 14th, coming home with 1 win and 1 loss! The Team Plays every Monday at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville. Come support the team! Winchester Winchester s Grove GMK5165, 165 ton All Terrain and the Linkbelt HTC-8675II, 75 ton Hydraulic Truck Crane standing and setting silos at Trex Lumber. Charlie Kopp was the operator on the 165 ton and his oiler was Tom Skalkeas. Kevin Reynolds was the operator on the 75 ton. 4 Alexandria Baltimore Nemo Lingerman s job for Nexius at Sibley Hospital. The Grove GMK7550, 550 ton was operated by Doug Radcliffe and Bryan Herndon was the oiler. Aaron Richardson s project in Washington D.C. for Commercial Moving and Rigging. Johnny Gunnell, out of the Portsmouth branch, was the operator on the Liebherr LTM1300/1, 365 ton All Terrain Crane and Brandon Gunnell was the oiler. Fredericksburg Olen Helmick s job for Interlock Steel Workers setting girders over Lake Linganore in New Market, Maryland. The Terex CC1500, 330 ton Crawler was set on a barge and operated by Mark Hawes. The Grove GMK6350, 350 ton All Terrain wasn t too far away operated by Steve Rohrman and oiler Greg Rohrman. Baltimore 3 Nemo Lingerman s job setting up Taylor Swift s stage at National s Park in Washington D.C. Two of our Linkbelt RTC8090II, 90 ton Rough Terrain s worked around the clock to get this stage set up. Clinton Oliver, Charles Welsh, Stephen Hostler, and Jason Biller were the operators on the job, and Daniel Hendricks and Doug Brown helped with the setup of the cranes.

5 The Alexandria Branch is more than happy to welcome Faron Harper as a Sales Representative. Faron has worked in the crane industry for 30 years, and worked out of Local 77 for 21 years. With Local 77 he worked for W. O. Grubb, United Rigging and Hauling, and Crane Rental Co. For the last 9 years he owned and operated a small crane rental business. Faron completed a 4 year apprenticeship program through Local 77. Faron is married with 3 children. His oldest son just graduated from Frostburg University in May, and has twins (a boy and girl) who are starting high school this fall. He enjoys watching his kids play football, wrestling and competitive cheerleading. He also loves a good game of corn hole. Congratulations to Robert Clark for getting promoted to Assistant Branch Manager for the Crawler Division! The Crawler Division would also like to welcome Bill Kelly as the new Dispatcher. Bill has 6 years of construction experience, and has spent the last 6 years dispatching. He has 2 girls and 1 boy, which he likes to spend all of his free time with! The Richmond Rigging Department would like to welcome Tom Boykin as a Rigging Foreman. He has been in the industry for over 30 years doing crane rigging and ironwork. He grew up in the southside of Richmond, and has 2 boys, Jake 13 and Nash 10. In Tom s free time he likes to shoot sporting clays and skeet. He also loves to hunt, really, he just loves shooting in general. He likes to offshore big game fish as well and loves spending time with his boys! The Winchester Branch is happy to bring on Nick Baird as their new Master Mechanic. Nick is from Syracuse, NY, but he and his wife moved to Virginia to be closer to her family. She is from Mt. Storm, WV where they met while Nick was working on a wind turbine site. They have 3 daughters: Josi, Bizzy, and Ali ages 5, 3, and 3! He has been a mechanic in the construction industry for 17 years, and has a two year degree in Automotive Electronics from Cleveland Institute of Electronics. He is also an ASE certified Master Heavy Truck Technician. Nick has worked for Manitowoc Dealers as a field technician for the last 11 years where he attendthe GMK product line factory classes, and crawler classes at the factory in Wisconsin. In Richmond he was employed at H&E, the local Manitowoc Dealer, until coming to W.O. Grubb recently. He came to work here because he was very impressed with the organization, as well as the condition and cleanliness of the equipment. He said between work and 3 small kids there isn t much free time, but when there is he plays the banjo and drums while his wife plays the guitar. 4

6 The Roanoke Branch would like to welcome Rick Hernandez as the new Dispatcher and Rental Coordinator. Rick started working in the crane industry in Miami in June of 2000, where he was a dispatcher for 11 years. Rick is married and has a 20 year old daughter. An interesting fact about Rick is that he is a musician and very involved at his church! Richmond Headquarters welcomes Christian Edmonds as our new Project Engineer. His father is a contractor by trade making construction a part of his life since he can remember. Christian graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology. He has a 7 year old son, Alexander, which he just got into RC boating with. Christian is a SPORTS MANIAC! He enjoys a good run and workout, but his free time is spent with friends and family. He says, I m not the best artist but I like creating and pushing myself to be a better person. This company is great and I am thankful to be a part of its expansion! Richmond Headquarters would like to welcome Danny Workman as Managing Director of Properties. He has 30 years of experience in the construction field. His first 15 years were spent over seeing multiple properties at Johnston Willis Hospital. During that time he was in charge of the construction of the Women s center in the early-mid 80s. The past 16 years he spent managing the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond and 3 of those years managing Keswick Hall along with the Jefferson. Danny is married with 2 girls and 2 grandchildren, a boy 5, and girl 9. In his free time he likes to fish and spend time with the grandkids at fast pitch softball and little league baseball. 5 The Richmond Branch would like to welcome Wayne Johnson as the new Safety Manager of Richmond! Wayne has worked in construction since August 2005, and has worked in safety since He is married with 1 daughter and 2 sons. In his free time he enjoys playing bass guitar for his church, and also enjoys officiating high school sports!
