Victoria, Tamps teich@informatik.uni-erlangen.de www12.informatik.uni-erlangen.de Erlangen, October 5th, 2010 Visiting Research Student at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg To whom it may concern: I herewith confirm to host Mr. José Roberto Pérez Andrade at our chair of the Department of Computer Science of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg during an exchange from 01/01/2011 to 31/07/2011 and as part of his PhD program in Mexico. During his stay, Mr. Pérez will perform research in the area of "Invasive Computing", a novel paradigm for designing and programming future massively parallel computing systems. This new paradigm will require new programming concepts, languages, compilers, and operating systems as well as revolutionary architectural changes in the design of MPSoCs (Multi-Processor Systems-on-a-Chip). More specific, new loop parallelization strategies and symbolic mapping techniques shall be developed which allow to generate parallel loop program implementations that have the ability to distribute their computations and communications at run-time on an array of tightlycoupled processors. Mr. Pérez will perform research as part of his PhD studies at the Friedrich-Alexander- University-Erlangen-Nuremberg, but will take his doctoral examination in his home country. Moreover, he will finance his stay with a stipend of his home country. This will include any resulting travel costs to/ from Germany as well as other living expenses, and, in particular, health insurance.
