Because RSP understands that a significant social facet accompanies the varying levels of educational institutions, every educational institution that RSP had been involved in follows a set of values and key ideas that play a significant role in its formal, spatial and programmatic inception, those being gathering, exchanging ideas, experiencing learning, and collaborating. The built environment, at whatever scale, is a living organism and it must contain within it the ability to develop and to change. This is particularly true of learning spaces; within a clear identity, it is important that there is flexibility for individuals to use and adapt space. We see the design of schools as a way of promoting excellence in education: intellectual and physical, moral and spiritual - a way of creating a learning environment that supports the development of the whole child. The school site being situated in Al Ain, nestled under the Jebel Hafeet mountains and in close proximity to the hot springs paved the way for an architectural concept to emerge which was powerful and austere in nature. 03- UPGRADING OF ST. ANTHONY CANOSSIAN PRIMARY & SECONDARY SCHOOLS Location: Singapore Size: 45,859 m 2 The reconstruction to the existing St. Anothony s Canassian Schools comprises of the upgrading of the existing classrooms & administration offices, construction of new teaching blocks, indoor sports halls and multi-purpose halls. 04- UNITED WORLD COLLEGE Location: Singapore Size: 47,700 m 2 The United World College has a student population of 2,200. The feel aimed for is formal and plush. He joined RSP Architects Planners & Engineers (Pte) Ltd in 2004 and has been responsible for the design of Education, IT Parks, Commercial and Residential developments. The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Graduate has practiced for 13 years, and with his extensive experience dealing with a variety of sectors, he is now leading a team of architects to renovate St. Anthony s Canossian Schools in Singapore due for completion by the end of His contributions to the educational sector are widespread, covering over 15 primary and secondary school across Singapore. Having worked with high profile international architectural practices on a wide range of projects throughout the world he has had extensive experience on numerous projects in the Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Residential and Hospitality sectors. As the lead designer Michael s projects have won numerous architectural wards including the Royal Institute of Architects Award in the UK, and his projects have been published in numerous publications. Michael Magill s role has been to build the RSP Dubai studio through delivering excellence in design and building the RSP brand in the region. Michael has built up a talented design team that can deliver highly complex and iconic projects in the MENA region. This has been achieved through the implementation of design standards, BIM and systems to ensure the efficient running of these major projects from Concept Design through to Tender Documentation stage. During his time with RSP he has completed the design of the Al Rajhi Bank Headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which is the largest Islamic bank in the world. He has also lead the design of a major education project in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the new Khalifa University Campus. He is currently designing the new Nakheel Mall on the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In addition, Michael Magill has designed a number of key projects demonstrating his diverse experience. These include, Maliha Hospital (200 bed) - Sharjah, Reem Luxury Villas - Abu Dhabi, Reflections Residential Development - Bangalore (short listed for the World Architecture Awards), West Beach Club - Dubai, Cuban Club - Abu Dhabi, Al Warraq masterplan - Cairo and the upgrade of Singapore Embassy in Riyadh.
