1 ICSC 2014 Canadian Shopping Centre Law Conference SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES JEANNE BANKA is partner in the Toronto firm of Daoust Vukovich LLP, a commercial leasing law boutique, where she practises exclusively in the area of commercial leasing on behalf of landlords and tenants in retail, office and industrial properties. Prior to joining the firm in 1996, she worked for The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited for fifteen years, most recently serving as its Vice-President, Legal, from 1991 to 1996, where she oversaw the drafting and negotiation of shopping centre and office leases for Cadillac Fairview s Canadian portfolio. Ms. Banka is listed by the lawyer rating service Lexpert as a practitioner consistently recommended in the area of Property Leasing and is also listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada. She speaks and writes on commercial leasing matters and is a member (and former member of the Board of Directors) of Toronto Commercial Real Estate Women (Toronto CREW). Ken is recognized by Lexpert as a leading practitioner in property leasing law. YAN BESNER practices real estate, banking and commercial law from Dentons Canada LLP s Montreal office. Yan represents lenders, property owners, developers and other commercial clients in the financing, development and acquisition of immovable and movable assets. He prepares security documentation and reviews leases and other typical commercial documentation. Yan regularly represents national and international retailers and franchisors in the context of their commercial leasing needs as well as institutional entities and developers in the acquisition, disposition and financing of real estate assets. LISA BORSOOK is currently the executive partner of WeirFoulds LLP. She graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law and joined WeirFoulds LLP, a downtown Toronto law firm, regarded as one of the top 10 law firms in the Province. She has been a member of the firm s students, associates, compensation, marketing, business development, and management committees and was the firm's managing partner from 2007 to 2012, while practicing law full time and raising her two sons, Isaac and Seth, with her husband, Symon Zucker, a well-known civil litigation lawyer. She is also the current Chairperson of its Commercial Leasing Practice Group and Client Services Committee and a member of the Business Law Practice Group and Women Lawyers Group at the firm. Over the course of her career, Lisa has written over 150 articles and is a regular speaker at conferences. Her vibrant practice includes a vast array of clients, both large and small, local, regional, national and international, as well as numerous governments and government agencies, in connection with their retail, industrial, office and brownfields properties. She has been recognized as a leading practitioner by Lexpert and named one of the best lawyers in her practice area by The Best Lawyers in Canada. STEVEN CHAIMBERG has been specializing in commercial leasing and real estate law for more than 25 years. He has substantial experience with landlord/tenant relationships, and represents both lessors and lessees in the preparation and negotiation of offers to lease, leases, lease assignments, subleases, and other documents that may be required in such matters. His practice also includes the preparation and negotiation of real property related business agreements, as well as business matters of a more general nature such as acquisitions, divestitures, licencing and franchising. Steven has spoken at conferences on the leasing of commercial space and has prepared the Quebec caselaw updates for the Canadian Shopping Centre Law Conferences of the ICSC from 1998 through He has frequently given conferences on landlord/tenant relationships for The Canadian Institute, Federated Press and MMPI Canada, and currently serves on the board of directors of the Salvation Army Catherine Booth Hospital.

2 ROBERT CLARKE is the business development director for FCT s Commercial Division. Robert is responsible for business relationships with the largest real estate law practice groups in Canada. Robert s role is to educate lawyers and clerks on the benefits and necessity of title insurance in commercial real estate transactions and to respond to inquiries about FCT s policies, underwriting guidelines, service and pricing. Prior to joining FCT, Robert was a lawyer in Bennett Jones LLP s commercial real estate group where he acted on behalf of clients on acquisitions, dispositions and financings of commercial real estate across Canada. Robert is a graduate of McGill University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science as well as the University of Western Ontario where he received his law degree. Robert was called to the Ontario Bar in MIREILLE CLOUTIER is Director, Legal Services, Eastern Canada Portfolio at Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited. She began her career at Holmested & Associates LLP where she specialized in commercial real estate, and more particularly in commercial leasing. She then practiced at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (now Dentons) before joining the Cadillac Fairview legal team. During her career, she has drafted, revised and negotiated numerous commercial leases for office towers, industrial buildings and commercial centres. Since 2005, Mireille has co-chaired roundtables at the ICSC Law Conference since. She also has co-chaired at the ICSC Law Breakfast in Montreal and is still involved in the organization of this law breakfast conference. Mireille has written many articles and is a regular speaker at conferences on commercial leases. DENNIS DAOUST is the co-founder of Daoust Vukovich LLP, a boutique dedicated to commercial leasing law, litigation, telecommunications access agreenebts, commercial real estate and construction law. Former Vice- President and General Counsel of the shopping centre divisions of The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited in Canada and the U.S. Speaks and writes regularly on all commercial leasing law matters including: remedies, ground leases, financing, tax aspects, construction problems, insurance and risk management. Substantial parts of his practice concern respectively, building owner telecom access and communication services issues, construction and design contracts, and solar, renewable energy facility agreements and leases. 3 PHILIP DRAPER is a founding partner with the law firm of Harris, Sheaffer LLP in Toronto. BETH EARON is an associate in the Toronto office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Beth s practice is in commercial real estate, encompassing a wide range of matters, including leasing, financings and purchase and sale transactions on properties ranging from industrial portfolios, to retail shopping centres, to rail corridors. Beth has represented a broad range of domestic and international clients, including pension funds, REITs, institutional investors, and well known tenants. Beth has spoken at commercial leasing seminars and has authored and co-authored a number of articles on real estate related matters. CYNTHIA ELDERKIN is a partner in the Ottawa office of Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP with 25 years of experience in the corporate/commercial area. Cyndy s practice focuses on commercial contracts (consumer and business), secured and unsecured financing transactions (including sale/leasebacks, equipment and inventory financings), outsourcing transactions and joint ventures, in various industries. Cyndy has represented a broad range of clients on numerous outsourcings, commercial transactions, and public-private partnerships, including call centres, installation services, infrastructure, facilities, managed services, manufacture and supply, IT services, and telecom products and services. JOSEPH GRIGNANO is a Partner in the Toronto offices of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, where he practices real estate law with a specialization in commercial leasing matters. Michael also acts for individuals and corporations on real estate transactions and various commercial matters. Michael is a longstanding member of the planning committee for the annual ICSC Canadian Law Conference in Toronto, Ontario and served as Co-Chair of the conference in 2008 and Michael has also participated as a panelist, moderator and round-table leader for the ICSC Canadian Law Conference. CHRIS JACKSON is the General Counsel for the Onni Group, a private real estate developer and landlord with projects in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Mexico. The Onni Group is engaged in all aspects of the development, construction, residential sale, commercial leasing and management of large scale mixed-use projects, with over 6,500 homes constructed in the last decade and current management of over 6.5 million

4 square feet of commercial property and 4,200 residential rental units. Prior to joining the Onni Group in 2011, Chris practiced in the Real Estate Group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Vancouver and clerked at the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Chris has been a panelist in the NAIOP breakfast lecture series and is actively involved with the Vancouver Hooplaw Basketball Tournament, having served as President from MICHAEL KENNEDY is a partner in the Halifax firm of Wickwire Holm and has been practising law for in excess of 30 years with particular emphasis in commercial law, acquisition, financing and leasing for large commercial complexes including shopping centres and office towers. He has also participated in P-3 developments and financings, large commercial transactions representing banks and other institutional owners and lenders, REIT s and government at all levels. Most recently, Michael has been involved representing power utilities in the creation and acquisition of wind generation and other generation facilities. DIANNE LEMM became a Principal of the firm in 2010 having joined Northwest Atlantic in 2002 as Vice President, Mall Services. With over 27 years of real estate experience, including 24 years specializing in tenant representation in enclosed shopping centres, Dianne brings an invaluable amount of experience and expertise to the Northwest Atlantic team. NORMAN LIEFF practices in the area of commercial real estate assisting local, national and international clients in various aspects of acquisitions and dispositions, saleleaseback transactions, development and construction, leasing, financing and asset management. His practice is focused predominantly in the office, industrial and retail sectors, but also includes advising clients involved in the infrastructure, hospitality and recreational sectors, including in relation to the development, leasing and management of professional sport facilities, hotel facilities and recreational/health spa facilities. GREGORY ORYSIUK has 27 years of experience in retail leasing, gaining exposure to numerous forms of retail properties across Western Canada from urban retail, strip centres, power centres, community malls to regional malls. This has led to leasing efforts involving ground up developments, re-merchandising strategies and major redevelopments to name a few. Greg is currently the Vice President of Leasing for 20 Vic Management Inc., bringing with him experience from firms including Oxford Properties, Dundee Real Estate, Pioneer Property Group and various real estate brokerage houses. Greg is a 23-year member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in addition to having achieved his Senior Certified Leasing

Greg has attended numerous Real Estate Forums and ICSC conferences in North America along with serving as a panelist.graduating from the University of Alberta (U of A) with a BA, Greg has also completed the Land Economics and Real Estate Certificate Program (with Distinction) from the U of A, Faculty of Extension. He maintains an Associate Real Estate License from the Real Estate Council of Alberta. MARIO PAURA is a partner in the Real Estate Group in Stikeman Elliott s Toronto office. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of commercial real estate, financing, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial leasing. His commercial real estate practice includes purchases, sales and development of a broad range of product types including retail/commercial, industrial, multi-residential, hospitality and entertainment properties.
