Action By Action Result From Caroline Siskowic Title Purchase seven LifePak 15 Defibrillators from sole source vendor, Medtronics/Physio-Control of Redmond, WA, for a total cost of $251, Presenter Robert Fite, Fire Chief Recommended Action Approve Analysis This is the last phase-in year for the replacement of the Fire Department's 21 defibrillator's. Eight defibrillators were purchased in FY 2011/2012, seven in FY 2012/2013 and the final seven are a planned purchase for FY 2013/2014. A cash discount of $41, has been applied and a discount of $18,600 has been applied for the trade-in of six LifePak 12's, the remaining unit would be kept as a back-up. It is the Fire Department's recommendation to purchase Medtronic Physio-Control brand defibrillators to maintain the continuity of equipment throughout the department. Historically the Medtronic brand defibrillator has been reliable since our inception of providing emergency medical services. Medtronic Physio-Control qualifies as a sole source provider because they do not utilize the services of any authorized reseller in the sale of these products or allow servicing in our area. Financial Consideration Funding in the amount of $257,100 for the replacement of the seven defibrillator's is available in the Fire Capital Projects Fund (400591), WO # (FY14 Defibrillators). Presenter Ron McCuller, Director of Public Works Recommended Action Approve Analysis In June, 2011, the City Council approved a contract with RJN Group, Inc. for a new work order system (CityWorks) for Public Works. While the award was for purchase of the software, the contract also details an annual software support cost of $40,000. Azteca Systems, Inc. is a sole supplier of software support for this system. City of Grand Prairie Page 1 of 2

However, with the new year, the $40,000 became due and payable and will be for subsequent years. In order to keep the support on-going, which would have terminated on January 13, 2014, the City Manager has authorized the payment of the $40,000 maintenance fee, subject to City Council ratification. Ratification of this payment is requested as well as authorization of future payments out of the annual operating budget, subject to City Council approval of the operating budget. Financial Consideration There are no financial considerations for this item other than the need for the City Council to authorize the annual maintenance payment. The grant funding opportunity requires a 50% match. We will come forward for an appropriation to provide the matching funds if our application is approved. As you know we have previously obtained a $4 million interest subsidized loan from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) in order to install the first phase of the Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) program that will enhance the City's efficiencies in metering water and detecting leaks in the water system. We have become aware of this grant money available from the Bureau of Reclamation that we could add to the funds already approved in order to progress faster with the multi-phase AMI installations. In order to apply, the resolution included herewith must be approve indicating the City Support of the grant. However, approval of the resolution does not obligate the city to accept the grand should we decide not to do City of Grand Prairie Page 1 of 2
