INFORM. ENTERTAIN. Once again, we had a fruitful and busy year serving our 500+ Oklahoma museums with their efforts to educate, inform and entertain. Although so much good happened during the year, we have limited space and so are mentioning just a few highlight. During the fiscal year, the OMA staff celebrated two milestones. Stacy O Daniel celebrated 20 years with OMA and Brenda Granger celebrated 10 years. In January 2015, OMA started the year with a new slate of Officers. Dr. Bill Bryans was elected to lead our organization as President. Again, we advocated for our Oklahoma museums, not only at the Oklahoma Capitol, but at the U.S. Capitol as well. We were well received in the offices of our Oklahoma congressmen, and made the case that museums are economic drivers, key providers of education and community anchors. At the state level, we appreciated Governor Fallin proclaiming May 17-23, 2015 Oklahoma s Week. As part of the celebration, we provided our annual advocacy piece to all Oklahoma legislators. For the first time, we included a list of museums in each legislator s district with their information. OMA also worked with Oklahomans for the Arts to include museums in the Candidate Survey, among the results were that museums ranked highest as to the respondent s arts participation and support in the last year. Last, but not least we finished up some very important projects, as we embarked on new ones. Completed projects included the Oklahoma Cultural Heritage Trust and the Celebrating Allan Houser: An Oklahoma Perspective, which we were honored to present a session at the American Alliance Annual Meeting. One new project which we started is s United: Phase Two. With IMLS support, s United Phase 2 is an initiative to strengthen all state museum associations by working collaboratively to develop critical tools and resources that will address these barriers as a state museum association community. Our role in the project is to develop an online toolkit to share best practices and resources about association management for board members and staff. We are so happy to be able to contribute to our own profession in such a meaningful way. We continue to be a transparent organization and is pleased to continue our involvement in GiveSmartOKC. Want to know more about OMA s financials, governance and policies, take a look at our GiveSmartOKC profile at here We appreciate and thank our members, donors and friends!
