We will be celebrating Founders Day again this year at our September meeting when the new board will take over. I am excited to see some new members on the board. Our annual Scholarship Auction is coming up in November so let s sell those raffle tickets and get some great items for the auction. I can t believe my year as being President is almost over. It has gone by quickly but I have greatly enjoyed working with everyone and getting to know the new members. It s been a very rewarding experience and would like to welcome the new board coming on this year. I would like to remind everyone that the old board and new board will have a joint board meeting on September 22 nd. Water, Lemonade & Tea are included, along with taxes and gratuity. Soda & Alcoholic drinks are separate and can be purchased. There will be cake served for dessert. 6 NAWIC Quad Cities Chapter #50 General membership meeting 7/9/2015 Location: Bennigan s Rock Island, IL NAWIC Quad Cities Chapter 50 minutes 7/9/2015 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Julia at 7:20 pm at Bennigan s in Illinois. Roll Call Attendees include Julia Anderson, Gina Jackson, Jennifer Wilkinson, Megan Hudachek, Kathy Aden, Jacqueline Ashbaugh (guest/ scholarship recipient) Jennie Hoover, Sharon Deitz, Emily Adams, Brittany Schaffer, Jesika Duarte, Judy Thomas, Connie Fierke (guest /tour guide of police station) Vicki Mlekush, Val Morris, Mary Buczek, Gina Jackson. Cathy Mason attended the tour, but not the meeting. Introductions were done with members were done both at the tour and meeting as some members attended the meeting but not the tour. Name badge fines Megan and Jesika Approval of Minutes from previous meeting minutes approved with no corrections Treasurer s Report Distributed, and no questions raised Correspondence Incoming NAWIC News Items Distributed by Faces of Industry Questions Julia thinks they were due a couple of weeks ago Outgoing Anniversary & Birthday cards sent out by Brianna & Jesika Thank You Card sent to Matt Larson with Estes Construction for the June meeting tour. Bills Approved by the board July Tour Guide (Connie Fierke with Gilbane) Est. $25.00 Reimbursement to Valley for potential member s dinners at the June meeting. Cost was $53.87 approved Scholarship awards mailing expenses estimated at $8.50 approved Unfinished Business - none New Business AMEC (Annual meeting and Education Conference) Board have approved Jean McAdam and Jennie Hoover as delegates for AMEC. Sharon Dietz will also attend NAWIC Time Capsule Project - Julia will distribute information by . The general idea is to find and submit pictures of events, written memories of NAWIC, newspaper articles about significant events in the chapter s history. Sponsorship Cost membership discussed raising it or having it remain the same. A vote was taken and all were in favor of raising it. Gold Sponsorship will now be $150, Silver sponsorship $100 and Bronze sponsorship $75. Gina Jackson will be sending out an asking for volunteers to chair the various

7 Committee Reports Auction first auction meeting was held on June 23rd the theme this year will be the Roaring 20 s. Judy Thomas distributed raffle tickets at the meeting. Denise Spindel will be sending out flyers, posters, invitations to members by . Start getting donations now. The next auction meeting is July 22nd at Estes Construction. Block Kids Mary Buczek has arranged to have this year s Block Kids contest at Herbert Goettsch Community Center in Bettendorf on January 23rd. Construction Awards Cancelled Founders Day/Installation The R.I. Arsenal Clubhouse has been booked Friendship Jesika/Brianna continue to send out Birthday Cards and Thank You notes. Membership Gina has sent information to Florence at Metal-Recycling and Werner Restoration. Emily Adams also talked to a woman from Werner Restoration about joining at a recent golf outing. NEF nothing new Newsletter Kathy Aden Historian nothing new Programs Jesika and Julia are working on programs. o August - Julia will send out an to see if there is enough interest to have a family picnic on a Saturday for an August meeting. o September Founders day at the Aresnal Island Clubhouse. Julia hopes to have a slide show of events/programs/inductions in the past. o October Jesika and Julia hope to have Nikki Habben w/girl Scouts speak about their organization and their programs. Public Relations Jean has been getting articles in the newspaper and Quad City Business Journal Sponsorship Judy will send out letters by the end of the week Scholarships checks will be mailed to the schools in mid- August.
