3 Potentates Message, July 2017 I had the great pleasure of attending the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin F.+ A.M. on June 1st through 4 th. Our Noble, M.W. Bro. Arby Humphrey invited me to be a member of his honor guard and escort him to the East after his installation. As this was an open installation, I wore my Aad Potentate s fez and Ill. Sir Charles Miller, Potentate of Zor, wore his. After his installation remarks, I approached the East. M. W. Bro. Arby removed his Masters Hat and I fezzed him with an Aad Grandmaster 2017 fez. At Grand Lodge, the Grand Master wore an Aad fez in the East. It was quite an honor to Aad Shriners. During this visit, First Lady Janet and I also travelled the seventy miles to Milwaukee and were given a private tour of Tripoli Shrine by Potentate Larry Wegner. This is a beautiful building that was started in 1925 and finished in 1927 at a cost of around $650,000. The dome was recently cleaned, refurbished and re-gilded for almost $500,000. If you ever travel to Milwaukee, this should be a must see for all Shriners. It has a wonderful story and probably could not be built today. First Lady Janet was surrounded by the villains of Disney s Aladdin, that just happened to be doing a photo shoot while we were there. See photos on page 4. Parade season has started. On June 11 th, the Range Shrine Motor Patrol, Lake Superior Clowns, and the Drum & Bugle Corps all made it to Cook, MN for Timber Days. This is a small town with a short parade, but it was a lot of fun. Our Units looked really good, sounded really good, and added a lot to this small venue. The Clowns interacted with the crowd and everyone had a great time. A dozen or so Shriners then went to the local VFW and listened to the Fort Frances Highlanders while having a quick drink with the Potentate. I also met with the Directors Staff. This small bunch of guys do a lot to keep things running smoothly. Most of them are members of other Clubs and Units. Active Shriners all seem to have two or three hats. Border Shrine Club had Ladies Night. The food and company were both excellent. PP Andrew Skene brought greetings from Khartum and I brought greetings from Aad. After toasts to the President, the Queen, and most especially, the Ladies, we had fine dining, ice cream and sugar cookies for dessert, and finished up with door prizes. Don t forget about future events. All the immediate Big Ones are covered in the Aad News. MSA in Bloomington MN, August 17 thru 19 REGISTER NOW. Aad Shriners Parking Lot Party, July 14 th - plan on attending. Huskies Baseball, August 2 nd sounds like fun. Aad Shriners Solon Springs WI Car Show, August 5 th. Daughter of the Nile Craft and Car Show, August 6 th. Bemidji Shrine Football Game, September 9 th let s get some parade units there. And the list goes on: Imperial Session in Daytona Beach, July th Hermantown Summerfest Parade, July 15 th Past Potentates Lunch, July 18 th Daughters of the Nile Supreme Queen visit, August 15 th Border Shrine Club Fish Fry, August 26 th - $10.00, please RSVP Nemadji Golf Outing, September 8 th. All Masonic BBQ, September 9 th best ribs in the state. Ladies Auxiliary Luncheon, September 17 th. Honored Ladies Luncheon, October 10 th.
