3 Twinewslet- NumJune Your photographs It is obvious from all the photos members have sent in that you really enjoyed the recent trip to France and that you wish to share your memories. Unfortunately it is not possible for you to directly down load images onto the website. We do, however, welcome your photos so that our web expert, Shirley Davies, can put them in the website s gallery, or into this newsletter. As a consolation, we have enlarged this newsletter to eight pages to include a good sample of your photos in our HELLO pages. We hope that everyone else enjoys them, too. Thanks to La Ferté Mace Everyone who visited would like to thank the La Ferté Mace Municipal Council, the Twinning Committee and hosts, for their organisation and support during the visit. The town tour, so splendidly executed by Bernard Blondeel gave our new members a chance to thoroughly understand the town and its history in times of peace and war. Thanks, too, to Wesley s, whose youth sponsorship made possible this wonderful visit for our younger members.

5 Welcome to the Cave d Andaines! On a sunny Friday afternoon Liz, Molly and Harry Casson meet their La Ferté Macé hosts on arrival. Could this be Ludlow Twinning s youngest-ever committee member? Young George Bradley shares a table with (left to right) Philippe Sallard, grand-dad Dave Mulliner and Yvon Jestin.

6 Blooming Ludlow Many members send this newsletter to France, so here is something about Ludlow which will be of interest. June 14 is open gardens day in Ludlow and time for Ludlow in Bloom. Our planting box (below left) can be seen in Castle Square. The Rose and Crown Inn (bottom right) have beautified their outside furniture in readiness. Our wood carver carries on as usual, making delightful bowls, utensils and other objects.

7 Pool protests La Ferté Macé s Salle Gerard Philippe (above) is going from strength to strength. After a refurbishment since our last visit, it houses a cinema with regular films, exhibitions, and has communication and information technology facilities for everyone. Not such good news for the town s seven year-old municipal swimming pool. Its now closed and causing much concern amongst the Fertois. Mayor, Jacques Dalmont, a keen twinner, joins protesters at the pool (above). On the left (below) one of the hundreds of signs of protest.. Below you can see why everyone in La Ferté and St Jean are protesting: the piscine (pool) is a splendid facility for all to enjoy.
