2 The Research Repositories Community Days event 2018 When: 29th-30th October 2018 Where: Mercure Melbourne Treasury Gardens, 13 Spring St, Melbourne VIC 3000 Social: Canapes and Mercure 5:30m 29th Oct 2018 About CAIRSS The CAIRSS community emerged from the CAUL Australian Institutional Repository Support Service (CAIRSS), originally set up by CAUL to provide support for institutional repositories in Australian Universities, funded by members (with initial support from the Australian government) between 2009 and The Community Days have taken place annually since 2009, with presenters covering a wide range of themes from stakeholder perspectives to advocacy, management of research outputs, data, and other technical aspects of repositories. It is an opportunity for the research repository community and those interested in research repositories to come together, share what is going on in their institutions, share practice and discuss the future of research repositories. 3 Introducing the keynote speakers Dr Chris Berg Dr Chris Berg is a Senior Research Fellow at the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub, a Founding Board Member of the Worldwide Blockchain Innovation Association, a Senior Fellow with the Institute of Public Affairs, and an Academic Fellow with the Australian Taxpayers Alliance. Dr Berg is the author of seven books. His most recent is The Classical Liberal Case for Privacy in a World of Surveillance and Technological Change (Palgrave Macmillan 2018). With Sinclair Davidson and Jason Potts, he is developing the field of institutional cryptoeconomics, which studies the consequences of distributed ledger technology for firms, markets, and governments. Their introductory essay to the field, published on Medium as The Blockchain Economy: A beginner s guide to institutional cryptoeconomics is listed by Andreessen Horowitz as a key part of the 'Crypto Canon'. 4 Dr Danny Kingsley Dr Danny Kingsley is the Deputy Director, Scholarly Communication and Research Services at Cambridge University Libraries. Her role has responsibility for managing funder mandates for open access and research data management. This includes working closely with colleagues within the University, the UK and internationally to ensure good policy development and implementation. Danny sits on several committees and editorial boards and regularly publishes blogs and research papers and is invited to speak at conferences. Before moving to the UK she established the Australasian Open Access Strategy Group. This followed on from working for four years as the Manager of Scholarly Communication at the Australian National University, a natural extension of her 2008 PhD into the range of ways different disciplines engage with open access. She has worked as a science communicator for 15 years, including two years with ABC Science Online as a journalist for News in Science. Jaye Weatherburn Jaye Weatherburn is based in the Digital Scholarship team in Scholarly Services at the University of Melbourne, working to improve and support data stewardship and digital preservation capability. Jaye was an Editorial Assistant for the Australian Library Journal ( ) and is co-author of Preserving Digital Materials 3 rd edition (2018). She holds a Master of Information Management and Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing from RMIT University, and a Bachelor of Film and Television from the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne).
