Clerestory light washes over exposed roof trusses in the central reading room and articulated ceiling heights provide volumetric interest throughout.

2 Noosa Nest Tim Ditchfield Architects Originally a duplex designed by Job and Froud architects in 1970 and later re-configured into a house, this major renovation and addition retains and builds on the most successful elements of its earlier incarnations. Thoughtfully planned and detailed, the house nestles effortlessly into the hillside landscape enjoying superb views over Laguna Bay. Music Education Facility, Woombye ArkLAB architecture Music teaching rooms and classrooms for younger kids make up the programme for the new learning facility at the Woombye State school. Cladding of variegated metallic Colorbond steel panels adds playful interest to the buildings, which is further enhanced by the shadows cast from the deeply pronounced sunshades. NCC Early Swimmers Conwell Architects At its heart, is a simple structure to provide shelter for one of essentials of Queensland life - to learn to swim. Beyond this basic requirement, the architect has created a considered and elegant structure. Internal planning allows clear visibility throughout. Breeze Mooloolaba Tony Owen Partners The Breeze building overlooks the beachfront promenade at Mooloolaba, with most of the 33 apartments enjoying sensational ocean views. Inspiration for the curvaceous form of the building came from the natural forms of the local tidal estuaries and is further enhanced by the sinuous form of the balconies. Sunshine Coast University Hospital Architectus Brisbane and HDR Rice Daubney as Sunshine Coast Architects Embracing its natural surroundings, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital is an exemplary world class health and educational facility that puts patient experience and well-being at its forefront. This is a public building which strives for local use and social engagement through the provision of green corridors, public outdoor spaces and community infrastructure. Tristania Beach House Push Robust finishes and carefully considered planning have transformed the existing 80 s weatherboard house into a delightfully home which responds to its setting and climate. The Tristania Beach house s multifunctional deck and indoor/outdoor connection enable year-round usability and enhance connection to the street.

3 Yerranya Base Architecture Provided with a brief to create a family home on a challenging site, the architects have created an angular plan that responds effectively to the immediate environment. Clever internal planning has created shared and quite zones tailored to a variety of different uses. Views to Mt. Coolum and nearby sand dunes have been captured. Tent House Sparks Architects The tent house defines inside outside living in the Noosa hinterland. Walls and ceilings dissolve into carefully crafted openings, leaving nothing but the ethereal fly roof, sky and the surrounding rainforest. This permanent state of camping, belies none of the luxuries of a new architecturally designed home gifted with an efficiently planned scheme and bespoke detailing throughout. Side house Project Sprout Architects 52 Fuelled by a desire for socially and environmentally sustainable architecture, the side house project presents an alternative housing solution unique at this time to the Sunshine Coast. By infilling a 3.5m wide strip of left over space and interlocking with the existing dwelling the result is a deceptively spacious 3 bedroom house. Breezeway house Majstorovic Architecture Highly resolved yet deceptively simple, this thoughtful little house built on a modest budget is planned around an existing tree within a tight building envelope. Although a contemporary building, the house evokes memories of experiences past. A secure central breezeway connects the three independent pods whilst providing critical ventilation. Richard Henry K Architecture Perched within a natural tree lined setting, the Richard Henry house captures select views and cooling breezes. The striking angular design derived by aligning axis with nearby mountain features allows this aspiring piece of architecture to soar above the ground providing a functional and low maintenance house.

4 Coolum Fairways Stage 2 55 Architecture about people Aiming to fill the gap of affordable higher density living on the Sunshine Coast, the second stage of the Coolum Fairways development, builds on it predecessor with advancements in building technologies over the last decade. Core sustainable principles are still favoured with most dwellings maximising cross flow ventilation, generous eaves and well insulated tall ceilings. Mitti Street House James Russell Architect The Mitti Street house is a purpose built semi enclosed structure designed to experience the elements whilst on holiday. Surrounded by rainforest, An enjoyable environment for multiple families to gather, surrounded by rainforest encourages all activities from playing in the courtyard pool during Summer to sitting around an open Winter fire, all the while wrapped in a protective shade cloth veil Currimundi Beach House Conrad Gargett The attractive yet subtle street facade belies the challenges of creating this family beach house atop a rising sand dune. Beautifully constructed, the house gradually reveals itself as one ascends the split levels. The main living space steps directly onto ground, with direct views to Dickie Beach.
