U Design was established in 1999 in Nairobi, Kenya and has its main office in Lavington. We are a design-led company whose focus is n contemporary design across a wide range of sectors and building types at the heart of the professional commitment of U- Design is our belief in the art of architecture as a vital ingredient in all our lives. We re committed to good design in the broadest sense, including a concern for sustainable design, efficiency in use plus the public and cultural context in which our buildings evolve. The firm s objective is to partner with the client and provide a high standard of modern contemporary and flexible professional expertise that exceeds their expectations. Despite our diversity in array or clientele our professional approach to any architectural commissions is out of the box. Each commission receives the same meticulous attention in design approach, ensuring that the end design product is responsive to the clients brief, unique and stands out. During the whole design stage, we are in contact with our clients, accommodating their ideas and suggestions while offering expert opinion on the best design alternatives. This approach to design commissions has served us well over the years and has eliminated the client alienation factor from the finished design. This design approach and philosophy assists clients in formulating environmentally responsible solutions of an exacting quality that maximizes the site potential within budget and time criteria. U Design has three Directors, six Architects who are qualified Architects and two interior designers. The above are also Corporate Members of the Architectural Association of Kenya and are registered with Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors. Other staff includes Architectural Assistants, a Secretary/Office Administrator, Part-time Projects Managers and 3 full time model makers. The technical staff is encouraged to keep track of architectural trends through being widely read and through continuous professional development programmes. To this end, the firm subscribes to various international journals. The high professional standard coupled with a creative and practical approach ensures a quick and efficient response in meeting the client s need within set time and budget. A free and vibrant working atmosphere has been encouraged within the practice to allow free thinking and flow of ideas, positive energy, exploration and creativity.
