1 AGENDA ITEM 20 SUBJECT: Disposal of Property Report ANNOTATION: AB 857 was enacted in 1999 and placed into Education Code 1279(b) language specifically identifying the manner in which property worth less than $25,000 can be disposed of by county offices of education. Education Code 1279(b) states that the county superintendent of schools shall not in any manner dispose of any item of personal property worth less than $25,000 that belongs to the county office of education unless he or she certifies the value of the item in a report and submits that report to the county board of education for its review. The items identified on the attached Report, which is provided under separate cover, are of no continuing use or value to Marin County Office of Education and will be disposed of following Marin County Board of Education Policy # REPORTED BY: Ken Lippi, Assistant Superintendent October 4, 2016

2 Marin County Office of Education Notice of Surplus Property Available to Marin County Public Schools, Districts and/or Community College Districts (as per Marin County Board of Education Policy ) Date of Requested Response: 5:00 PM, Friday, September 30, 2016 This notice verifies that the following surplus personal property of the Marin County Office of Education, described in the table below, is worth less than $25,000 (per item), and that each of the listed items have been determined to have no continuing use or value to the Marin County Office of Education. As such, and as required by Board Policy, this property is being offered on an equitable first come first served basis to all Public Schools, Districts and Community College Districts in Marin County. If your school or district is interested in any of the listed items, please contact Mike Grant, at the Marin County Office of Education by phone at (415) or by at right away. In the event that interest in some or all of this property is not expressed by a school, district or community college district by 5:00 PM on the date of requested response, a list any remaining items will be submitted to the Marin County Board of Education for review in a public session report, certifying compliance with the terms of Education Code 1279(b), and Marin County Board of Education Policy and the items may be sold or disposed of as deemed reasonable by the Superintendent.
