6 Keynote Speakers Howard Burns Howard Burns is Professor of the History of Architecture at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, and is acclaimed internationally for his work on the architectural history of the Renassiance. He is a member of the Accademia Olimpica in Florence, the Consiglio Scientifico of the Centro d Architettura Andrea Palladio in Florence, and the Consiglio Scientifico of the Centro Giulio Romano in Mantua. Professor Burns received the BA and MA from the University of Cambridge, where he has also been the Slade Professor of Fine Art and a Fellow at King s College. Manuel Castells Manuel Castells is University Professor and the Wallis Annenberg Chair in Communication Technology and Society at the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles. He is Professor of Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, and holds joint appointments in the Department of Sociology in the School of Policy, Planning, and Development and in the School of International Relations. Sherry Turkle Sherry Turkle is a professor, author, consultant, researcher, and licensed clininal psychologist who has spent the past 30 years researching the psychology of people s relationships with technology. She is the Abby Rockefeller Mauzé Professor of the Social Studies of Science and Technology in the Program in Science, Technology and Society at MIT. Her most recent book is Alone Together: Why We Expect More From Technology and Less From Each Other.
