Judith Ricker, born on 1 Feb She was captured by Indians in July 1696, but was soon returned. 6 She married Thomas Horne on 14 Apr He was the born on 28 Nov 1676, the son of William and Elizabeth (Clough) Horne and the grandson of JOHN and JANE CLOUGH. Judith had died by 1720 when Thomas married (2) Esther Hodgdon. 8 ii. John Ricker, born on 1 Apr He married Hannah Garland by She was probably the daughter of Jabez and Dorcas (Heard) Garland. 11 He died in Somersworth, N. H. on 31 May iii. George 2 Ricker ( ) and Jemima (Busby) Ricker GEORGE 2 RICKER (GEORGE 1 ) was born in Dover, N. H. on 10 Feb He married JEMIMA BUSBY. 40 They lived in Somersworth, N. H. George Ricker of Somersworth made his will on 17 Apr He mentions his wife Zebina; whether this is a variant of Jemima or whether it is a second wife is unknown. Daniel Ricker. 44 He is not mentioned in his father s will so presumably had died by iii. James Ricker. 45 He was living at the time of the 1790 census. 46 He apparently never married. iv. Dorothy Ricker. 47 She was named as Dorothy Moore in her father s will. v. Elizabeth Ricker. 48 She was named as Elizabeth Fall in her father s will. vi. Polly (or Molly) Ricker, 49 living unmarried in 1769 Ephraim 3 Ricker (c ) and Susanna (Leighton) Ricker EPHRAIM 3 RICKER (GEORGE 1-2 ) was probably born about Ephraim Ricker conceived a child by Elizabeth Marden. 51 It is uncertain whether Ephraim Ricker ever married Elizabeth Marden. 52 Ephraim Ricker married SUSANNA LEIGHTON 53 in Berwick, Me. 54 Susanna Leighton died before 18 Feb 1780, for on that date Ephraim married, as his second wife (or third, if he married Elizabeth Marden), Susan Fall. She was born in Ephraim and Susan Ricker moved to Hartford, Me. 55 Ephraim Ricker died there on 9 Aug Susan Ricker died on 21 Feb Ephraim and Susanna (Leighton) Ricker had the following children, all born in Somersworth: i. Tobias Ricker, born on 2 Dec He was a Revolutionary War soldier and served at Ticonderoga and Saratoga. 59 He married Abigail Warren in Berwick on 17 Jun She was born on 12 May 1764, the daughter of Tristram and Mary (Neal) Warren. 61 He died in Buckfield, Me. on 20 Dec She died on 20 Sep ii. George Ricker, born on 14 Dec He married Dorcas Philbrick. 64 She was the daughter of Enoch Philbrick of Buckfield. 65 George died in Auburn, Me. in iii. By March 1845, they had settled in that section of Bangor that was set off as the town of Veazie in Marcus Ricker died in Veazie on 26 Nov Maria (Marden) Ricker married, as her second husband, John Rigby, in Veazie on 21 Apr Maria died in Old Town, Me. on 25 Jun Marcus and Maria (Marden) Ricker had the following children: i. See note 6302, infra, for my reasons for guessing at Named in her father s will 48 Named in her father s will 49 Named in her father s will 50 Family, hopelessly confuse the facts about this man. At 1:4, it gives his birth date as 1760, an obvious error. (The estimated date of 1730 is based on his father s date of birth (1701), the date of birth of his oldest child (1759), and the fact that he is the first-named child in his father s will.) They say that he married Susanna Leighton in 1769 and that she died in 1780, yet they say a child was born in 1759 and give them a total of seven children, highly unlikely if they were married only 11 years. 51 Master Tate s Diary, NEHGR, 74:48. The child was Elizabeth Ricker, who married Benjamin Evans in Somersworth, N. H. on 11 Dec , says that he did. Master Tate s Diary, NEHGR, 74:48, implies that he did not. 53 It has been claimed [Internet, unsourced] that she was the daughter of Thomas and Susannah (Chesley) Leighton. However, Perley M. Leighton in A Leighton Genealogy: Descendants of Thomas Leighton of Dover, New Hampshire, two volumes (Boston, 1989) says that there is no evidence that she was their daughter and includes her in their family with a question mark. Ricker and Ricker, say that she was born in Berwick on 6 Dec Master Tate s Diary, NEHGR, 74:49, calls her Hannah Leighton of Berwick. 54 Master Tate s Diary, 4

On page 13 it says that the move occurred in 1783; on page 39 it gives the date as I think the latter date more likely , citing Revolutionary War widow s pension application , which does not say whether this is the same Stephen Pearce of Berwick who had two years earlier married her sister Eleanor. 81 Elizabeth M. Mosher, transcriber, Vital Records of Freedom, Me., Prior to 1892 (Camden,. Me., 1991), 12, citing ; hereafter cited as Freedom VR;. Ricker and Holland, A, gives the date as 23 Jul Augustine Caldwell and Mrs. Sumner Kimball, John Caldwell and Sarah Dillingham Caldwell His Wife, Ipswich, Mass., 1654 (Ipswich, Mass., 1904), 227, hereafter cited as Caldwell and Kimball, Caldwell Geneaology. This source says that Dolly Caldwell married Rev. Joseph Ricker, but the other facts therein provided make it clear that they are talking about the Dolly Caldwell who married Rev. Daniel Ricker and died as his wife in The reference to Joseph Ricker is from her great-great grandniece in 1899, who recalled seeing the text on her gravestone many decades earlier. [Ibid., 229] 84 Maine Vital Records Index 85 Family, really messes this family up. They say that Daniel Ricker married Dolly Caldwell which he did but that she was called Hannah and was the mother of all his children, which is untrue. Dolly Ricker s death record explicitly calls her the wife of Daniel Ricker. 86. When they settled in Freedom, Daniel and Hannah Ricker Ricker Family helpfully recorded not only the births of all their children born before the move, with their places of birth, but also their own dates and places of birth.
