The circumstances of the world are transient however, and the challenges presented continually alter. Often, the ritual becomes redundant as the problem no longer exists, or as less restrictive or painful alternatives are discovered. This work does not intend to offend the Holy Koran which is recognised as greatly contributing to the emancipation of women throughout history. The perpetuation of certain customs in the name of Fundamentalism, that owe cause to fear, ignorance and the mindless pursuit of power, have a devastating impact upon their victims across the Islamic world. I would like to acknowledge and thank the cast for their input into the development of this piece.
