5 CENTRAL OSHAWA Journal Entry Content Map Content Pictures Medallion Development Bruce Street A brand new neighbourhood is being planned in Oshawa's core; a 2,241 unit mixed-use redevelopment of a former industrial site. The project will include 2,145 apartment units and 96 townhouse units, as well as office and retail ground floor space, in buildings ranging from 3 to 18 stories in height. 6 Central Oshawa GO Station In June 2016 the Provincial Government announced the approval of the Lakeshore East Go Train Extension, which includes new GO Train Stations in Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville. This extension will connect East Durham by rail to Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Scarborough, Downtown Toronto, and the rest of the GTA. As part of this extension, a GO Station and Multi-modal Hub has been proposed by Metrolinx for the former Knob Hill Farms site. This development will integrate bus, rail and vehicle travel, and spur gentrification of the surrounding Central Oshawa neighbourhood. Anticipated Project Completion: 2023 Land Area: ~24 acres (GFA): Unknown, project is still in design stages Estimated Project Economic Value: $1.1 billion in transit-oriented, walkable urban development Estimated Jobs Generated: 21,000 permanent new jobs

7 139 Celina Street - Infill Apartments A three-storey residential building containing 6 units, construction is anticipated to begin Spring Number & Type of Units: 6 apartment units Land Area: 0.2 acres (GFA): 456 square metres Commencement: Spring 2017 Height / Number of Stories: 3 storeys, 9.72 metres Durham Outlook for the Needy - Headquarters Development of a long-vacant lot on Simcoe Street South into a brand new headquarters for Durham Outlook for the Needy. Building will be one story and 565 square metres in size. Construction timelines are not known at this time. 8 SOUTHWEST OSHAWA Journal Entry Content Map Content Pictures Oshawa GO Station Renovation Opening in Summer 2017, the complete renovation of the Oshawa GO Train Station will offer an improved commuter experience, a larger facility, and, beginning in 2023, Regional Express Rail that will better connect Oshawa to the GTA, with every 15 minute service being implemented across the Lakeshore East line. 9 General Motors In September 2016, General Motors announced an investment of $424 million for upgrades at the Oshawa assembly plant. Production of the Chevrolet Impala, which had previously been scheduled to terminate in 2019, has been extended indefinitely. As well, the Cadillac XTS production, which had been scheduled to end in 2018, will also be extended indefinitely. 12 Commercial Building Marwood Drive Small commercial building to be built on Marwood Drive in the South Oshawa Industrial Park. 13 EAST OSHAWA Journal Entry Content Map Content Pictures Harmony GO Station In June 2016 the Provincial Government announced the approval of the Lakeshore East GO Train Extension, connecting East Durham by rail to Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Scarborough, Downtown Toronto, and the rest of the GTA. In the initial stages of the project, a GO Station was proposed for the lands south of Bloor Street East and west of Townline Road South. This GO Station would integrate bus, rail and vehicle travel, and spur development of the industrial areas south of the highway, and intensification of the residential neighbourhoods to the north, west and east. The Province approved plans only for GO Stations at Thornton Road (West Anticipated Project Completion: Unknown Land Area: ~25 acres (GFA): Unknown, project is still in design stages Estimated Project Economic Value: $1.1 billion in transitoriented, walkable urban development Estimated Jobs Generated: 21,000 permanent new jobs

Durham Hotel and Conference Centre Located right off the Highway 401, the Durham Hotel and Conference Centre recently undertook an extensive renovation, adding 344 square metres of space and investing $4.3 million. Currently, there are active development applications on 85% of the land, with an expected buildout time of 2-3 years. As well, of the remaining 15%, there are development applications in the preconsultation stages for 5% of the land, with an expected build out time of 3-4 years. The area currently is in the process of being serviced and zoned to allow for industrial development. This area has the advantage of being located in proximity to the UOIT/Durham College main campus, the Highway 407 and the Oshawa Municipal Airport. Industrial developments have already begun to come to fruition, including 1472 Thornton Road North Thornton Road North Recently completed 1472 Thornton Road North is the first of many planned industrial developments in the Northwood Business Park. It contains 28 Number & Type of Units: 28 industrial condo units Total Gross Floor Area (GFA): 4,115 square metres

It will have a strong focus on promoting interdisciplinary and experiential learning for students in computer science, IT and engineering. 24 CFCE - Centre for Collaborative Education Durham College is preparing to break ground on its $35 million Centre for Collaborative Education. The 75,000 square foot building will embody the College s commitment to working with its partners to create a new facility where students, employees and the broader community can work together in ways that transcend the traditional concepts of education. CARIE UOIT has announced plans for a new $100 million Centre for Advanced Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. CARIE will act as a catalyst for a new cluster of advanced manufacturing, research and development in strategic industries such as nuclear, electrical and alternative energy systems, automotive Estimated Investment Value: $35 million (GFA): 7,027 square metres Completion: September 2018 Height / Number of Stories: 4 storeys, 17.5 metres Estimated Investment Value: $100 million (GFA): Over 12,000 square metres Commencement: TBD Height / Number of Stories: Estimated 2-4 storeys

26 NORTHWEST OSHAWA Journal Entry Content Map Content Pictures Oshawa Executive Airport Oshawa Executive Airport is taking flight, with heavy private sector investment - hangar space is up 260% in the past 10 years, and another 30% increase is projected in the next 5 years. This would increase total hangar space from 270,000 square feet currently to over 350,000 square feet. With the closing of Buttonville Airport in Fall 2017, Oshawa Airport predicts corporate travel will increase 150 percent in the next 5 years, increasing from 3,500 movements a year to 8,800. The project represents a significant investment in the overall economy, as 700 new retail employees were hired because of the expansion. The expansion created 60 new stores, a 1000 seat food court and 2 new restaurants. 29 Retail Expansion Gibb Street West Proposed addition of two new commercial buildings in the retail plaza south of the Oshawa Centre on Gibb Street - currently containing Canadian Tire and Real Canadian Superstore. New buildings will add over 1000 square metres of retail space, and include one restaurant and one multi-tenant commercial building. 31 Durham Learning and Business District (dlab) dlab is a partnership of developers, universities and local governments. The project entails the construction of 12 new buildings, each with a minimum 60,000 square feet of fully adaptable retail and commercial space. The announced Thornton Corners GO Train station will connect dlab to both Downtown Oshawa and the entirety of the GTA. Anticipated Project Size: buildings, each a minimum of 5,574 square metres in size Land Area: ~150 Acres, ~60 acres on the Oshawa side of the border Estimated Project Economic Value: $200 million in planned private sector investments Potential Job Creation: Project will be built to have capacity for up to 3,000 employees
