The project will include 2,145 apartment units and 96 townhouse units, as well as office and retail ground floor space, in buildings ranging from 3 to 18 stories in height. 6 Central Oshawa GO Station In June 2016 the Provincial Government announced the approval of the Lakeshore East Go Train Extension, which includes new GO Train Stations in Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville. This extension will connect East Durham by rail to Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Scarborough, Downtown Toronto, and the rest of the GTA. As part of this extension, a GO Station and Multi-modal Hub has been proposed by Metrolinx for the former Knob Hill Farms site. This development will integrate bus, rail and vehicle travel, and spur gentrification of the surrounding Central Oshawa neighbourhood. Anticipated Project Completion: 2023 Land Area: ~24 acres (GFA): Unknown, project is still in design stages Estimated Project Economic Value: $1.1 billion in transit-oriented, walkable urban development Estimated Jobs Generated: 21,000 permanent new jobs
7 139 Celina Street - Infill Apartments A three-storey residential building containing 6 units, construction is anticipated to begin Spring Number & Type of Units: 6 apartment units Land Area: 0.2 acres (GFA): 456 square metres Commencement: Spring 2017 Height / Number of Stories: 3 storeys, 9.72 metres Durham Outlook for the Needy - Headquarters Development of a long-vacant lot on Simcoe Street South into a brand new headquarters for Durham Outlook for the Needy. 9 General Motors In September 2016, General Motors announced an investment of $424 million for upgrades at the Oshawa assembly plant. Production of the Chevrolet Impala, which had previously been scheduled to terminate in 2019, has been extended indefinitely. As well, the Cadillac XTS production, which had been scheduled to end in 2018, will also be extended indefinitely. 13 EAST OSHAWA Journal Entry Content Map Content Pictures Harmony GO Station In June 2016 the Provincial Government announced the approval of the Lakeshore East GO Train Extension, connecting East Durham by rail to Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Scarborough, Downtown Toronto, and the rest of the GTA. In the initial stages of the project, a GO Station was proposed for the lands south of Bloor Street East and west of Townline Road South. This GO Station would integrate bus, rail and vehicle travel, and spur development of the industrial areas south of the highway, and intensification of the residential neighbourhoods to the north, west and east. The Province approved plans only for GO Stations at Thornton Road (West Anticipated Project Completion: Unknown Land Area: ~25 acres (GFA): Unknown, project is still in design stages Estimated Project Economic Value: $1.1 billion in transitoriented, walkable urban development Estimated Jobs Generated: 21,000 permanent new jobs

CARIE UOIT has announced plans for a new $100 million Centre for Advanced Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. With the closing of Buttonville Airport in Fall 2017, Oshawa Airport predicts corporate travel will increase 150 percent in the next 5 years, increasing from 3,500 movements a year to 8,800. The project represents a significant investment in the overall economy, as 700 new retail employees were hired because of the expansion. The project entails the construction of 12 new buildings, each with a minimum 60,000 square feet of fully adaptable retail and commercial space. The announced Thornton Corners GO Train station will connect dlab to both Downtown Oshawa and the entirety of the GTA. Anticipated Project Size: buildings, each a minimum of 5,574 square metres in size Land Area: ~150 Acres, ~60 acres on the Oshawa side of the border Estimated Project Economic Value: $200 million in planned private sector investments Potential Job Creation: Project will be built to have capacity for up to 3,000 employees
